Best header bolts for tight spaces.The 5/16” head is smaller than the 3/8” head so the smaller diameter socket bit fits in more places.These worked great on Ford 289 headers.

Had to replace a gasket on my 89 Chev 350 Hooker Headers. The headers came with 3/4 inch long bolts with a 1/2 socket head (11mm). Kind of tough to keep those tightened and they have less than 1/2 inch in the cylinder head. These are high quality bolts and even with a 5/16 (8mm) head, you won't disfigure them, so you can get a good torgue on them and they are easier to get a wrench on. don't worry about the holes not being deep enough. They are more than deep enough on the old small block Chevy.

I had to chase the threads with a tap for these to tighten all the way, but they went in like butter afterwards. The small head made the job easier using smaller tools. Look nice with the freshly coated headers.

They fit great and the narrow washer clears the pipe on OEM SBF headers. The small bolt head makes it easy to fit wrenches in tight places, too.

I bought these for very tight locations where a 3/8 fit but it was still tight access for the wrench. The bolts seem to be good quality and did provide the additional wrench space I was hoping for.Cons:(1) - Watch out for the length of these. They are longer than the header bolts they replaced which concerned me because I was afraid they would bottom out before tightening. They did tighten up OK for me. If you have thin header flanges they might be too long.(2) - Because the bolts are so long, if you tighten the header up with one bolt, the remaining bolts might not fit past the headers into the holes. Insert all of the bolts you plan to use just a few threads in while the header hangs away from the motor. Then once they are all started you can push the header in until it binds on a bolt, then tighten those bolts. Repeat the process until the header reaches the heads.

I purchased these in the middle of a header job on a 96 Mustang GT 4.6l SOHC...They were for a Chevy. I still managed to trade them for Ford head exhaust bolts/studs. They were that well received by a Garage Mechanic. They are a great product, and - if I ran Chevys' - I would use them.

Used on a GM SP383 Stroker with aluminium fast burn heads. Hedders were Hedman 68470 with Mr. Gasket Copper gaskets. Works great. Resolved clearance issue for wrench and sockets.
