I noticed the camera lens is set pretty deep into the metal housing
I wasn't expecting much for the $18 pricetag, but I was hoping to get lucky. I ordered two. I wanted to use them as vehicle cameras, recording my drive in case of an accident (they were advertised as dash cams) and assisting in looking behind me when I'm in reverse. Nope. Not even close to what I need.I wanted something with a decent field of view; the angle wasn't listed on these. It turns out it's about 60 degrees. As soon as I unboxed one, I noticed the camera lens is set pretty deep into the metal housing. The photo they use in the ad shows a nice large camera lens flush with the face of the device. In reality, it's about a millimeter wide and set about 2 millimeters deep, and NOT CENTERED! One unit came with the lens installed too close to the edge of the bezel and smudged with white paint. I didn't even try to use that one. I just put it back in the box. These came with VERY VERY BAD instructions. I couldn't really reliably figure out how the cameras worked from the instructions. I have attached photos of the instructions so you can decide for yourself.I couldn't get the night vision/infrared to work. Probably because I can't understand the instructions. However, with only two buttons on the device and no display (only one LED for feedback), it was difficult to know if I had setup the camera properly to take night vision video. This won't be very good for a dash cam because it does not automatically detect low light and switch to infrared. You have to manually toggle between 720p, 1080p, still photos, record upon motion detection, or night vision. So, that kinda makes it useless as a dash cam.Furthermore, this ONLY RECORDS A 5 MINUTE LONG LOOP. That won't work for a dash cam. If I want to use the video as evidence after an accident, it will get over-written in 5 minutes. Nope. This thing got hot as hell when I charged it. I left it plugged into a cigarette lighter adapter (not included) for 40 minutes and it was too hot to pick up. I never charged it again; I was afraid my truck would get set on fire by this thing. It has this crazy heavy little steel housing. There's no reason this should have a heavy steel housing. Presumably, that's to protect it from a fall. But from the looks of it, only one screw holds the contraption together. I think it would come apart pretty easily on impact. It came with two devices for attaching it to things. One is a clip with little teeth that looks appropriate for attaching the unit to your clothing or clamping it somewhere. Unfortunately, due to its heavy steel construction, this clamp is insufficient. Clip it to your shirt or the bill of your cap and it bobbles around too much. This made the video nauseating. The heat inside my vehicle made the jaws of this "clamp" curl up like a wilted leaf, so it's useless. The other item was a sort of "dock" for attaching the "clamp" to a stationary base, which could be screwed, glued, or taped down to a surface like a dash or windshield, etc. It has a poorly-designed friction joint that you can use to rotate the camera. I didn't even try it. These things are junk. See the pics.I thought about keeping these and letting my kids use them for helmet cams or something, but without a way to secure them to anything, they are useless. The button interface is confusing, so I don't think my kids will get it. Plus, there's the "5 minute video maximum" problem. Super dumb. The nail in the coffin was the poor video and still image quality. Very poor. Very shaky. Useless video. I returned both items. Good try, China.

Quality is poor, instructions bad, order three and get one good one.
I have three of these, one has a misaligned lens and the video is unusably blurred. There is no practical way to adjust the focus, so that's a bust. One doesn't seem to charge (I'll leave it plugged in another night to see). One works. This is not in the instructions: you set the time by editing a file "TIMEREST.TXT" that contains (eg) "20171013075500 Y"
