Decent guide for Costa Rica surf from a surfer mindset on a budget.I would recommend a Lonely Planet guide to use with this guide. Both together will cover almost everything you will need to know on how to survive with limited funds.

Overall does a good job of local tips, breaking down many breaks, etc... Would like more detail on more breaks, and many of the detailed breaks are detailed on the internet. Still best guide I've found and worth buying.

I bought the book and the kindle edition prior to my trip to CR. They are very informative with great locations on where to stay, where to eat and most importantly, where to surf. If you're going to CR to surf, this is a must read.I'd highly recommend it to anyone who's going to CR.

I bought this book for my first surf adventure to Costa Rica. It definitely had most of the surf spots covered withbasic info on how to get there, best conditions, etc -

Me and four mates are travelling through centrel America on a surf trip, this book wasthe most helpful as we based our next destination on what we read about the surf spot. Really helpful with twice as much info than any other surf guide book we were using.

Just bought this for a surf trip to Tamarindo area, it is VERY outdated..might have been more helpful 10 years ago.

Great travel guide

Ich muss wirklich sagen, dass ich sehr angenehm überrascht war und bin von diesem Reiseführer für Surfer. Die meisten Surfer, die ein Buch veröffentlichen, repräsentieren eher das Klischee des "Hängers, der surft aber sonst nix im Leben gewuppt bekommt". Der typische Aussteiger eben. Bei Mike Parise ist das anders. Hier scheint ein Mann ein "normales Leben" zu führen, aber trotzdem dem Surfen verfallen zu sein. Ja, diese Menschen gibt es eben auch. Und als eben solcher schreibt er mir bei vielen Dingen mehr aus der Seele als jemand mit einer "ach wird schon"-Einstellung.bei der lektüre haben ich hin und wieder laut lachen müssen. Das Englisch ist wirklich gut verständlich. Die beschreibung sind wirklich sehr hilfercih und helfen uns in der Planung unserer Reise wirklich sehr. Also overall: Daumen hoch!
