Fascinating book!
"Motion" takes the concept of moving from wheels to chariots to buggies and wagons, to bicycles, buses and trains, street cars, horses, and on to cars, and explains the pros and cons of each, and how each of these inventions changed the world. It is a fascinating book.

Amazing account of motion and transportation
This book covers a lot of ground. Lots of information going back to 5000 BC and the invention of the wheel. Great primer to get a history of why we have an ongoing affair with cars.

A fun-to-read review of urban transportation
A fun-to-read review of urban transportation. The book discusses the social aspects of the various means of transportation (and almost does not discuss the technical aspects).

1/5 stars because Standage is too political
1/5 stars because Standage is too political. The first half of the book is scientific and historical, then goes deep into climate alarmism, hating white males, blaming capitalism/etc. for why electric cars failed in the 1910s, and other silly stuff that is glaringly different than his writing in History of the World in Six Glasses. Super sad.
