Excellent system and bundling of 16 gauge wire!
I am so happy that I went with this option of the 1000 ft heavy duty 16 gauge wire. In doing a lot of research, I came to find that the 20 gauge wire that comes standard with the system encounters a lot of issues and is cheap. I have a lot that I believe is less than a half acre, but I didn't want to be in the middle of installing and run out of wire. This option was cheaper than if I purchased 1000 ft of 16 gauge wire separately and wasting the 500 ft of 20 gauge wire that comes with the system. I am a female and installed the system with my 14 year old last Sunday. It took us less than a day. We rented a trencher/cable wire installer which I was real excited about to make the job easier, but we got a lot of rain last weekend and it didn't work as well as expected. However, I read a lot of reviews where people swore by this and I expect I would have had the same experience had the ground not been wet. We live in GA where we have red clay for soil so it turned into a muddy mess but was still able to get a little use out of it. Nonetheless, we got through it and the system works great! I did purchase additional flags and additional waterproof splice kits. I knew the 2 splice kits would not be enough due to the layout of our yard and existing fence and the fact that I was using the trencher.I've got a 50 lb pitbull that was jumping our fence. It's been miserable because he can't go outside by himself. At night, I have to take him on a leash in our backyard and my daughter always has to have him on a leash or he will jump over. He learned within just a few days what his boundaries were. I decided to do my whole yard, including the front, to get my money's worth. He can now also go out in the front yard which is nice. I had been going back and forth between this system and the one for big dogs as I wasn't sure the static correction would be enough for him. I have it set on level 3 and that is good for him. It only took him 2 times of being corrected for him not to go across the boundary again; once in the front and once for the fence he used to jump. I love the fact that this system doesn't start the correction until where you lay the wire. The yard is narrow on the side of my house and I'm not sure he would have been able to go in that area at all if I would have gotten the other system since you do lose some yard space. I now have peace of mind that he won't jump the fence and he can now enjoy going in the backyard whenever he wants for however long he wants!

Great price, easy installation!
We've had this installed for a couple of months now and it is great. Installation was easy as we rented a wiring machine and made burying the wire so much easier. As far as setting up the panel and collar, that was easy as well. You just have to read the instructions and it's pretty fail proof. Soon our dog will be able to enjoy the yard without the worry of her running out in the street or going into neighbors yards.

Just what I wanted, upgraded wire with the yardmax system. We have been using for a couple weeks and my Mini American Eskimo dog is already trained to stay in the yard. When one of her dog buddies went by she started to leave but quickly went back in the yard when the collar beeped at her. I am thinking of getting a collar for my cat and try training him as well.

Poorly written instructions, so much detail they were hard to follow. Most important however, was warning tone is very hard to hear for many people, No mention of this made in instructions, I called help desk because I couldn't hear it and they were aware of this and said it was very common. Had to get close to ground and put sender next to may ear to even hear it. Made training much more difficult.

Great alternative to physical barriers or fences!
Installation was a bit more involved than we expected due to really hard ground in our yard. There were a few more rules to the routing of the wire than we expected too. Overall, has been great once installed. Our dog learned how it worked much quicker than anticipated. I would recommend buying the twisted wire rather than twisting it yourself.

Dog and owner bliss
Company was helpful when I asked about the poor packaging, but it did not affect the final outcome...it works great once you understand how the collar operates and what the signal blinks mean to your pet. It takes a commitment by owner and dog, but he enjoys running around the yard without the leash.

pain in the butt to install under the grass but well worth it

It may work great, I wouldn't know
The instructions for set up are so lacking that I was unable to even figure out how to plug the receiver unit to the power cord. Also, there was no mention of the fact that this receiver can not be in an unheated garage, which would mean feeding it through a window leaving a gap for heat to escape, or drilling a hole through the exterior wall of my home...then there are particulars regarding placement of the receiver. All in all, it has been nothing but an exercise in frustration. It may work great, I wouldn't know, since I couldn't get past the few pictures that serve as "instructions" for plugging the thing in.
