Cute Video, Solid Yoga Work-out
I have watched this video with my 3 year old a few times. I like that it is a full yoga routine, very similar to ones I've done as an adult, but that the instructor has renamed most poses to be kid friendly (e.g. childs pose is a polar bear). There is also no discussion of yoga philosophy, which I think is good. My daughter asks to watch it, but she mostly ignores it when it is on. She plays with her toys instead of doing the poses with me. Every once in a while she does a pose and get's really excited "Look Mommy, I'm doing it!" I'm hoping the more we watch it, the more she will do. For a children's yoga video, this Mommy gives it 5 stars. Since my daughter doesn't really pay much attention to it, I had to bump it back to 4.

I've never seen her follow instructions so calmly like she does with yoga
I'll start off by saying, you never know what kids will get into. I encourage my daughter to try everything. I keep an open mind and hope she will too in order to find her passion some day.Somehow, my daughter has gotten into yoga. She say me try it once or twice, and I noticed she always wanted to use the mat I wasn't using so I took a leap of faith and bought this DVD as well as her own butterfly yoga mat. It was a really affordable gift and she loves it! I've never seen her follow instructions so calmly like she does with yoga. I feel like it helps her focus and I'm proud of her for complete the whole video and copy the moves as best as she can. She's in dance now and her teacher specifically told me she takes instruction very well and listens to everything the teacher says. It makes me wonder if trying yoga was a good introduction to learner another activity from a teacher. I'm very happy we gave it a try!

Well loved yoga video for a 3 year old
My 3 year old daughter loves this yoga video. It was a Christmas gift she received when she was 2 1/2. I had a difficult time finding one that I thought she would enjoy. Some of them seemed a little dated. The instructor does not specifically mention the names of the positions (Downward dog, tree pose, etc...) but that isn't a problem for us.We began doing yoga videos when I was pregnant with her little brother. While she enjoyed the maternity video, this is definitely more geared towards her age. She loves being imaginative with the lady on the screen. My out of shape mother enjoyed it as well!

So fun to watch 2 year old following along!
I ordered this for my 2 year old son since he showed interest in my yoga practice. I also wanted to get him started early on making his physical and mental health a priority.Like other reviews and the product description stated, the dvd is very basic. It is just a woman on a yoga mat and a white background. The first time I turned it on my son sat glued to the tv but only tried one of the poses (chomped the leaves on the tree in giraffe pose). The second time, however, he has completed almost the whole wake up routine. Since we got it about a week ago, he has constantly talked about it and showed family members the different poses.I wasn't sure how a yoga routine would keep a little one interested and was so pleasantly surprised to see how well stories were incorporated into the poses. For example: Stretching arms out to the sides and saying "tick tock" as you stretch them from side to side like a clock. My son really likes the part of the wake up routine where he stretches with feet together and wakes up his toes by tickling them and saying "good morning toes." Such a cute DVD and so much fun for us to do together.

Wish I found this DVD years ago...
This was my third attempt to find a yoga DVD to do with my two kids (ages 5 &2), and it was a huge hit. The previous 2 DVD's I purchased just didn't hold their attention. They were also hard to hear over all the background noise and didn't give instructions. I was ready to give up until I came across Once Upon a Mat. The instructor is clear, gives easy instructions that the kids can follow and since it is just her on a white background there are no distractions. The "Sessions" are short and have several to choose from or you can choose to do all of them. We have done the entire DVD after bath time and it is the perfect way to relax the kids before bedtime at the end of a busy day. For the past week we have done baths, yoga, read a book and they have gone straight to bed. I wish I had found this years ago-not to mention it is something both kids can do at the same time with no arguing!

Calming and the kids love it.
I love this. I don't let my kids watch much TV so this is great for us. I LOVE that it's a solid white background and just an instructor talking. No pictures, no noises no visual stimulation, no distractions just an instructor. This DVD is great for us for that reason and also because we don't do real yoga. I actually did the full video with my kids today and it was a bit of a workout for me! If you are looking for a children's version of real yoga then this isn't for you. She does the poses and movements but talks about catching butterflies, picking up plates off a table, leaping like a frog things like that. My kids are 4 and 5 and they really enjoyed it. She doesn't use the real yoga names but she really made my kids enjoy doing the poses. The DVD is divided into sections so you can play all or choose just 1 clip which I'm guessing is about 3-5 minutes each. Great product.

Not Amazon Prime friendly
My daughter like to follow it which I guess is the most important fact. However, there are different chapters but if you are watching it on prime video you cannot fast forward to a specific chapter. You have to fast forward and just periodically check if you've gone to the right spot or too far. Try doing that while maintaining a kids interest. The other choice is that your kid always does the same 20 minutes and the rest of this video is for naught.Secondly and am not sure if this is my own hang up, it's kind of boring. Just a lady in a white room talking to the kids and doing yoga. My daughter is engaged for a length of time but I wonder if she would do more of it if it was more interactive. When I take her to a yoga class she's engaged for almost a whole hour. We get at best 20 mins with this video.
