We never got an alert, and while the Canary captured the dudes ransacking our house for over 5 minutes, it never registered that anything was amiss. We are supposed to be alerted when there is activity in the house while we're not home, but in looking into later, we discovered that Canary, due to some mysterious malfunction, never recorded us as being absent. The Device was stuck in Home Mode, even when we had left. Our phones were with us.To make matters so much worse, Canary Customer Service has been difficult to get into contact with, and they refuse to speak with us over the phone. They will only communicate with us through emails, and online chat.They believe our Wifi isn't good enough. We told them our wifi is fine, and works perfectly for all other devices, and we have a lot, my husband works from home and requires fast internet speed. They then asked us to do our own troubleshooting, and provide them with a Wifi Speed test. When we provided it, customer service told us "Well that's what it is now, but we don't know what it was when your house was robbed." !!!! What?!!! Then why did you ask us for the test?Last email we received from Customer Service says that they are passing on the complaint to the product team, and "if we could help you, we would."Yes, you could help us. You could follow through with your products promise of protection, take accountability for the major failure, step up your customer service game, and make it right with us.On top of having our house horribly ransacked, the stress of dealing with Canary has been overwhelming. Police officer recommended a few other devices, like SimpleSafe and Frontpoint. Canary was not on his list. Other Canary users we've been in contact with have reported same Home Mode malfunction.Canary continues to offer no resolution.

HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT 👎🏾👎🏾
After doing much research I decided to go with Canary view indoor camera based on reviews and specs. To replace Amazon cloud cam, because it no longer work with my upgraded network of 5G.I love the sleekness of the camera blends in nicely with decor and could pass for a really nice speaker. The camera was a breeze to setup, picture quality was fairly good.However I was a bit disappointed during set up that there wasn’t any subscription trial period. In order to get notifications of motions, person or recording of activities. You’ll have to pay for that service monthly or yearly, if not you’ll only be able to do live view. (Seriously! Who has time for that while at work?) I opted to do a one month paid service to see how well it work before committing to a yearly subscription. Good thing I did, it was an EPIC FAIL! I encountered a few flaws while testing out the different “Modes” to see how well the camera works. I needed a bit of assistance to figure out what I did wrong, if I’d set up the camera incorrectly or missed a few things within the app. To my surprise there wasn’t any live customer service to contact via phone in order to receive technical support you’ll have to email, tweet or live chat. After receiving a little help turns out I didn’t have a few things set correctly within the app.PROS.I love the fact that this camera has different options to choose from and to set accordingly to your schedule, for these reasons I chose this camera:• AWAY MODE- can be set to automatically detect when you leave, so you don’t have to worry “did I turn my camera on?” It will do that for you.• HOME MODE- detects when you’ve arrived home and turn camera off.• NIGHT MODE- set to your specific needs of when you go to sleep and wake up. It automatically turns on and off so you can feel safe at night in the event should anything go “bump” while asleep. This camera would capture it all. All the different modes works superbly. It does detects whenever I come and go and automatically turns on/off. Night Mode turns on/off at my desired set times.•EMERGENCY- I haven’t had the opportunity to use this option but I love that it’s available through the app and you can store you local authority.•PANIC BUTTON- haven’t used it but I’m sure it will come in handy.CONS. I quickly learn that this camera has major flaws. I decided to try out the camera in the different “Modes” to see how well they works, While in•“AWAY MODE” I turn off the “auto detect” upon entering my home the light underneath turns on which means it detects motions and is recording. However I didn’t receive a notification immediately, when I did receive a notification it was almost two minutes after. I went to check the recording and I was horrified! There was no recording of me entering my home or doing anything within view of the camera. But it did capture my movements a full minute after entering my home. I did this for several days and each day was the same.•NIGHT MODE- (I deliberately set this mode 30 minuets prior to my normal bedtime, to ensure that I was still up and about.) This mode needs major work. In this mode it captures me far less than it should. Most nights it didn’t even detect my movements or me. And it’s the same with notifications not until after it finished recording before I receive any notifications.After I contacted amazon I was told the camera was defected so then sent me a replacement. The replacement works a little better but more less of the same it records me only once entering my home. And I’ve yet to get a notification upon entering and not after a full recording. Night mode is working, still being notified after full recording.I have already purchased a different and more expensive camera and is now testing them both side by side, so far the other camera is working phenomenally the motion sensor is superb instant notification. While Canary is still lagging. The only difference with the two is that there’s no “night mode” option with the other camera but I can live with manually turning it on/off at night knowing that it’s going to work. And it also comes with a one month trial subscription. If within the next few days It’s still under performing i’m definitely returning and also fracturing that there’s no live customer service should I encounter an issue in the future. I’d prefer not to “tweet” my issues/concerns, wait however long to text back and forth “live chat” or wait hours/days for email responses.OVERALLI would have love this camera if It had performed as it should. With instant notifications, proper recordings and detections. The developer has a nice concept which still needs lots of work. Definitely better customer service options especially knowing that this is a tech device. I had high hopes for this device and was excited... now I’m just disappointed.

DO NOT BUY!!!
I’ve had my canary for awhile and it has worked as promised. Now all the features I bought it for for are now part of a subscription service. My canary is useless now unless I pay. Please read all the negative reviews and the date they were posted. I’m not the only one upset with canary. Way to take care of the people that made you money canary!!

Dust Collectors. Useless. Don't Waste Your Money
These are pretty terrible. It's basically a scam to get you to buy memberships. The app alerts you of activity/motion but after recent updates it doesn't show any of the actual activity in the video. There is a major delay in the time the activity alert is sent so by the time you try to view a live feed of the camera it is too late. I have had connectivity issues with these as well and seem to never work when I need them to. Unless you pay a lot of money to have videos of your home hosted on an external server these things are garbage. I am unfortunately past the return period which is a shame because I wasted a lot of money on these.

Easy to setup.
Easy to set up and use. Good picture/video quality. For the price, I really happy and I’ve discovered my dog sleeps on the coffee table when we’re not home!

Unforeseen Costs
When I purchased the device, the company highlighted the fact that the camera would feed an in-app video log with full-length videos showing the activity occurring during that time. It was on the basis of this claim that I bought the device so that I could effectively monitor my dog while at work. It worked really well for that purpose.Until they suddenly changed the terms of their free plan. Now, I see 10-second “summaries” (this means the first 10 seconds of whatever activity occurs) of activity, which is for my purposes useless. The only solution Canary provides is the “option” to pay $10/month for the “upgrade” that restores removed functionality.

Not worth money
Bought this product in October also paid for 1 year subscription and I will not be subscribing again, when I’m away from the house I do not always get notification when there is movement in the house and even though my wifi connection is strong the camera will still disconnect it’s self every so often, I have been in touch with the customer support team since October and still has not been resolved

That this item is unreliable as home security.
Awful. Although next to my router it regularly went Offline and after 3 days will not connect at all no matter how often it is disconnected and reconnected. Just says 'Pairing' with the circle of death running on the app. So pleased I didn't sign up for Premium service. Gave 1 star because no option for zero stars.
