Bats: Their Biology and Behavior
V**O
WONDERFUL overview; any nature lover will love this
I had a very narrow need: learn enough about bats to create aliens with some of their characteristics (flying foxes, specifically). but WOW - I devoured the entire book. Written by a real biologist but without unnecessary or unexplained jargon, this comprehensive guide covers every aspect of their feeding, their escape from predators, how/why they hibernate, how they are coping with less forest and more buildings (abandoned castles, etc. are now harboring a lot of wildlife!), how they reproduce, how they migrate - and how they are NOT birds! Different lineages, different underlying biology and metabolism.I could not put it down. So fascinating, my Pteropus that I came for and much, much more!Very highly recommended, for anyone interested in nature, not necessarily bats.

Bats of Britain and beyond
Startling photos and lots of surprising info from a well travelled bat expert. A similar sized book on specifically British native bats would be well received?
