i had minor instablity untill i replaced the socket clamp with a thermal grizzly clamp frame, its been running cooler and 100% stable ever since, good mid teir combo that should stay relevant for a while until ddr5 really takes off

This was purchased as a bundle including an ASUS ROG Strix Z690-A Gaming WiFi D4 Motherboard and a 12900K CPU. I purchased the bundle to upgrade my Z490 based work computer. Overall, I am happy with the upgrade and would buy it again. It is reasonably priced and a solid mid-range option.The CPU silicon quality was a bit of a disappointment. The overall SP rating was only 87. This would be totally unacceptable for my chilled water overclocked benching rig and the CPU would not be suitable in that system. It is running 24/7 stable with all P cores at 52x, E-cores at 42x, Cache at 42x with 1.350V, The RAM is running stable at 4000 CL15-16-16-32 1T and 1.500V. That will do just fine for my work computer. I took off one star for the crummy bin quality. Otherwise, the bundle would have been a 5 star rating.The motherboard is good. It is probably the best Z690 option for DDR4. It looks decent and performs well. It is an affordable option if you are a gamer. Probably not the best option if you are an overclocking enthusiast. It is excellent for anything else and it will serve the purpose for which I bought it very well. There are a few features the motherboard lacks that I wish it had, which are:- Power and Reset Switches- Dual BIOS- Q-code LEDs- Black option (I am not a huge fan of white components)Pro Tip:The absolute worst thing in the world about owning an ASUS product is their software. Amoury Crate is a hideous, broken UWP (Micro$oft Store) abortion. Please take my advice and disable the option in the BIOS and do not install it. Armoury Crate is not only extremely buggy, but it is a ridiculous resource hog that will impair performance. I am being kind by calling it horrible. ASUS needs to either fix it or stop making it available for download. Use OpenRGB for the Aura lighting and control the fans and overclocking in the BIOS. Your system will run better, faster and be more stable if you never let Armoury Crate infect your OS.
