Rethinking my first impressions.
I bought this pen back in February. I have a minor obsession with fountain pens but I don't have the money to spend a hundred dollars on each pen so I'm always on the lookout for good pens on the cheap. I have TWISI, Lamay, Pilot Metropolitan and a few other pens. They are all good pens and I was eager to try this one as well because I love demonstrators. It's a solid pen with a smooth design that feels nice in the hand. Where TWSBI is sharp edges, this pen is smooth curves. The nib is smooth but offers a good bit of drag. Not scratch, but drag, which I like as it slows my hand and allows for greater legibility. Too smooth/fast and my writing becomes a scribbled mess. I love the translucent tip under the nib, it's a very cool design choice. I liked everything about this pen except for the reservoir. It seemed oddly small and I couldn't figure out why such large looking barrel could only hold such a small amount of ink. So it sat in my drawer, hardly used and I thought it would be one of the pens I'd give away when the time came. Well, the time came. I now have to trim my collection and I used it again and fell in love with the feel of it all over again. I lamented its' tiny reservoir and wondered if there was a way I could make it bigger myself with some tampering. So I toyed with taking it apart and pulled on the end. And low and behold, the twist end has a slot lock! All this time, I never knew that! The piston DOES go back all the way! The reservoir is just a hair smaller than the TWSBI. Alas, I'm saved! This pen is now a keeper and I feel incredibly foolish. Even odder, not that I've found the unlocking bit, the piston no longer moves at all when the end is locked in place. I have no idea how it was moving before, but it was, just in a very limited way. Hopefully, this will save some other poor soul someday. Great pen, well worth getting if you're a demonstrator fan. The piston works great, no leaking, and the ink stays viable for months. I've had Diamine Golden Sands in it since February and every time I've pulled it out, it writes immediately, even after sitting for 4 months. Impressive budget pen.

I want to like the pen, but the nib...
This pen looks excellent, given its low price tag. Heck, it even comes in cheaper than the TWSBI Eco; how can you go wrong with that? Well, very carefully. This pen has lots of nice details to it, and definitely feels like a higher quality pen than the price suggests. You’ll see nice product labeling around the cap band, on the nib, and on the clip. The pen has a nice weight to it, without being too heavy. The silver accents are a nice touch to the demonstrator look, and the finial is amongst my favorites on any pen. I like that it comes with a pen sleeve - it’s just a velvet single sleeve, but it works nice and adds a certain value to the pen.The pen is as clear as it possibly can be. This is something I love in a demonstrator pen. Even the feed is clear, which means you can see the ink color through the feed (Waterman Harmonious Green, in this case). You can also see the ink in the barrel, which looks especially nice when it sloshes around, though here you’ll see it at nearly maximum ink capacity. This pen also hold a lot of ink, which is great. The piston works well and is easy enough to clean an maintain. Wing Sung includes a tube of silicone grease for the piston in the packaging, which is always a nice touch. The piston knob pushes down into a locking position after filling, which I absolutely love - no more accidentally twisting ink out all over. The pen does post, and it’s a great length when it does, but it feels like it’s not really supposed to post, and I’m constantly afraid of cracking the cap when I do it. You have to really push the cap down until it locks on the metal-colored ring under the piston knob, which is much less forgiving than a rubber o-ring, or something similar traditionally used for securing a cap when posting. The cap will also often work its way off the back while you write. This is almost a deal breaker for me, because I post all my pens always. The real killer for me is that the nib is just not great. It works, sure, and writes very well, but it’s just not pleasant. This is the finest extra fine I’ve ever used. I might even venture to call this a needle point nib. It’s awfully scratchy for what I like, and it’s a pretty dry writer. The nib does not appear to be swappable, which means this pen is a no-go for me. This is really unfortunate, because I want to like the pen. The good news is that it will write really well on cheap paper, including field notes notebooks. In fact, it writes better on field notes paper than it does on good paper. That said, you’ll probably prefer a TWSBI Eco.

Great pen - unbelievably good price for what you get.
I'm a relative newbie to fountain pens. Have owned one or two throughout the years but recently started playing with a lot of inks and a handful of $50-$100 pens. I picked this up after a friend suggested it and am pretty impressed. Filled it with J Herbin Emerald of Chivor 1670 and have written several pages with it. The pen is incredibly smooth- much more so than a Pilot Metro and on par with a Levenger 3.0. It just glides across the paper.Easily and immediately writes after being left overnight. It's my daily go-to at the moment, so I've yet to leave it longer than that. It looks great, fills easily and just plain works. If you're OK with a Chinese pen, this is probably the best bargain in Fountain Pens. I can see why so many YouTube videos rave about it.As always, will update if there is anything to add. If this is still 5 stars, then it's still working great.*Update Oct 16 2017*After quite a bit of regular use, this pen continues to perform flawlessly. It's my Go-To pen and has yet to dry or clog, even after sitting for a week. It's as reliable as a good ball point. Will be buying more.
