Marantec Garage Door Opener Photo Eyes System For Model M8-705/116168

I purchased this through marantec (not a typo; it is marantec, not Marantec) for two reasons. 1) marantec’s support team is very helpful, and 2) this item costs considerably less than through other sellers I found.In relation to #1, on marantec’s Website are the easy-to-follow installation instructions, and the link to the Website was provided in the email I received from the support team.One more thing about the support team. I told them the problem I was having with my marantec door opener, and they told me without hesitation that the sensors were the problem. They were right. They could have told me the door opener was the problem and needed to be replaced ($$$), but they didn’t!

Had broken wires on old photo eyes

I have an older Marantec garage door opener. What I like is the soft open/close feature and it operates very quietly. The company that installed it came out to service it several times in the last couple years. The door was reversing and throwing errors a lot. Well, they told me "these units are pretty cheap and they don't work very well and ..." Cutting them off I asked then why the %!!*& did they recommend, sell and install it on my garage and charge me way way more than if I DIY-ed it!!! Told me I needed a new board a couple years ago, paid for that. Solved the problems temporarily. Then the trouble started again.Skipping ahead, installing these upgraded sensors solved all the door error problems. Sunlight shines directly in early and late in the year. Reflections off of the cars, bouncing off a new light colored concrete floor, shadows. The old OEM sensors were constantly fooled by these things. Plus bugs would nest in the OEM sensor housing causing more problems. These work great so far and are super easy to install. Barely need to be aligned at all. Certainly not like older sensors which need careful tweaking. Smooth design with no spaces to accumulate dirt or attract bugs for nesting. If you're moderately handy and can read directions you can probably install these easily. Be careful with the installed wires as what you get these days is a little shorter than it used to be. I had plenty to install on a single 16 foot door but there wasn't much left over.Withholding one star because they are so new and I want to see if any problems crop up now that the sun is getting low and shines in a lot more. Or if any other problems show up. But so far, definitely recommend.
