I purchased a set for myself a couple of years ago. I enjoyed them so much that I bought them as Christmas gifts for my daughter and daughter in law. I just purchased two more sets for two sister-in-laws as retirement gifts. I’ve found the batteries last a long time (I don’t have it on the timer). I love the ambiance, my daughter loves not worrying about the cats with a flame, they’ve been great in power outages, and they look fantastic!!

Candles are very pretty and the use batteries, which makes them safer to use.

The Luminara candles are really the only ones out there that look extremely realistic. This particular set is pretty reasonably priced for this brand, and I'm very happy with the look of them.

In addition the real look of flame, the timer system is very accurate and work well beyond any of cheaper brands I have tried. Definitely worth the extra dollars.

The Luminara candle is the most realistic 'flame' I have found in a battery operated candle. From a short distance, it looks quite real. I can't say that I noticed the vanilla scent but that is not why I bought it. I love the remote and really love the timer. Turn on the timer and it stays on for 5 hours. It turns on every evening at the same time. Love it! This is a lovely accessory without the worry of flame. Service and delivery was excellent. The only reason I gave this candle 4 stars for value for the money is because it isn't cheap. Still you are getting a candle that will function well for years.

Look real from a distance or out of the corner of your eye. Not many people will think they are real from close up, but they do look good. Remote is a bit flaky but not a big deal. Good and bad that they are real wax since you could damage them. Should drop in price significantly since there is no rocket science here.

I wanted to dress up some 2nd floor columns with wall sconces that would have candles inside, and thought it would be neat to have them illuminate at night. The location would make real candles nearly impossible to light, so these candles fit the bill when used with the remote accessory. The candles are real vanilla-scented (not overpowering by any means) candles with electronics and a battery compartment inside. The flame is extremely realistic when viewed from most angles. When turned off, the flame is of course still visible but not illuminated, making them not so realistic when not in use, but in my case that really didn't matter because they are mounted high up on a wall inside tinted glass sconces.I provided images to give you an idea of the illumination you can expect, as well as to show you how well the remote works. The illumination is very realistic, and the remote works from downstairs. I simply point the remote at each candle and press the button. Voila! Instant ambiance!The remote must have a narrow transmission field, because I can't get both of them to turn on with one keypress if I point the remote between them, but I'm just happy it works at all from about 20ft away at an upward angle.These aren't inexpensive, but I've seen them go for twice as much in specialty stores, so I'm very happy with these purchases from Amazon (two candles and a remote).

I bought two of these beauties to go into two large lanterns that sit on our back porch. I have them on the timer so every night they come on automatically at 7:00 and they turn off automatically at midnight. These are the absolute most REAL looking candles that you can purchase currently. Pottery Barn has similar faux candles, but these are even better than what Pottery Barn carries in their store. The price on these Luminara candles is awesome too! At night they look 100% real! They look 100% real during the day as well, BUT of course the faux flame must be turned in such a way that you are not visually focused on the flame during the day...otherwise, if you are standing close enough (within a few feet) and looking directly at the faux flame during the day, you would be able to tell that it was fake. I haven't purchased the remote just yet...and I'm honestly not sure if I'll need it, the timer feature is awesome! If you are looking for faux candles, these are the MOST REAL looking that you can find! I am extremely picky...and other faux candles would not satisfy me enough to stay in our home...believe me, I've looked, I've purchased, and I've returned. Buy these candles!~Manuel's wife

Sold as unscented but has horrible vanilla honey smell that stinks up the whole house.

Product is amazing. They look so real and so happy with product. I would order again.
