I have two of these they are invaluable simple accurate and rugged I use them mainly for stair and railing jobs great tool

Sure, but be aware that your roof can have multiple pitches depending on design.

It's about 8 inches long, I have had one for about 6 years and it works great, I use it for odd angles on piping
