56360 Voice Alarm Clock

We needed to replace my husand's talking alarm clock which he's used for several years. This is the only one I found that had all the features he's used to, especially the different melodies and 3 alarms with the all-important talking feature. The first one that arrived seemed to work fine, but quickly developed glitches in the voice part. By the time I realized it was suffering from "loose connection" I'd thrown out the box and packing material. I didn't contact the seller, simply because I felt my inability to return the now used item was a problem I'd created and so I'd just write off the loss. One thing led to another, as they say, and I found myself writing a review for the seller. I mentioned the situation, saying I didn't hold them responsible and had not contacted them with a complaint. I gave them 5 stars because the product was shipped fast and appeared to be as described. I couldn't fault them for how things turned out. Today to my surprise, a package arrived in our mailbox. It was a replacement clock. This seller had read the review and sent a new clock without even being asked to! Folks, that's customer service at it's best.My husband loves his clock. Because it's similar to the old one he was able to figure out how to set it without my help, and likes the different melodies it plays. It's as sturdy as the old one, and after looking at many of the talking clocks offered on Amazon as well as a couple of specialty shops that sell products for the blind, I can tell you without hesitation that you won't find a better price for these kinds of features. Now we also know you won't find better customer service anywhere. This has been a great shopping experience for us.

We are using three alarm clocks to remind us of three medication times every day and, when I found this, I thought it would reduce clutter. Unfortunately, I am ditching it and continuing to use the three clocks.The build quality, at least on my unit, was unacceptable. The MODE button is supposed to cycle you through TIME/DATE, ALARM1, ALARM2, ALARM3, ALARM4 and TIME/TEMP. But every time I try to go through a complete cycle, it skips at least one spot. The switch must be poor quality (in other words, broken) and putting out two signals for many of my single presses.Also, the clock is almost as big as the three it would replace, so clutter wouldn't be that much better. And the number of buttons on the clock is a bit overwhelming compared to our simple alarm clocks now. I may have gotten a bad unit, but even if that is the case, these other problems would have kept me from buying it if I'd known about them.

This is my third talking alarm clock. The first one fell and broke so I replaced it with another. I used that one for years. I love the option of setting it and not having to turn it on every night(I always forget). it is also very loud so I can hear it. I don't ever use snooze; it just doesn't work for me. When this on suddenly went mute, I ordered this to replace it. It works the same way. I'm not totally happy with it. The controls are touchy. It skips some of the alarm settings and was difficult to get everything set. But I got it to work, I can hear it and turn it off in the AM easily. So I can live with it. It's a same the controls are so unpredictable. I would give it 5 stars if they worked better.

Unlike most of the other reviewers, I still have my original TalkingPlus clock. The screen layout on this clock is identical. Unfortunately, the screen is very dim compared to the other clock. I guess they saved a few cents on the manufacturing cost. While the layout has not changed (other than to replace the temperature readout with the year - really? who doesn't know what year it is), the buttons are pretty much the same. However, they do not work nearly as well. Sometimes you push them an nothing happens. Other times, it skips ahead two (or three). Very poorly done. How do you screw that up? The button on top that can be pressed to tell the time and temperature is now on the back. Not such a big deal, but it was very easy to lean over out of bed and push the top of the clock, now not so easy. It still tells time and the alarm works (I only tried one). Oh, and the "lady" now sounds like a young girl. They've taken a very good design and have screwed up things that should be easy to get right. Very sad. That said, if your clock broke and you're looking for a similar replacement, I guess this will do. It will become my travel alarm clock now. Hope this was helpful.

not the easiest to program

This is a dud, piece of crap!!

I bought this for someone else and when we found that the temperature feature did not work at all but only shows zero degrees we considered sending it back, instead the receiver of the gift chose to keep it even though defective. The good side of the clock is that it plays a wide variety of nice tunes or sounds for the alarm and the sound quality is good. On the negative side it does not have a physical alarm shut off switch so you have to go through the setup process if you do not want it to go off the next day or if you wake before the alarm, this is very incontinent. When the alarm goes off you push a button and it stops for the day but will automatically be armed for the next day. If you get up before the alarm there is no way to stop it from going off and waking the rest of the house unless you go through the setup process. If this is not an issue for you than I would say it is a very nice clock. One of the reviews described it as a large clock, I do not feel that is an accurate description for most people as it is about the size of a large cell phone with an optional small stand and looks very nice.

Not User friendly. setting and enabling/disabling the alarm is time consuming.
