The media could not be loaded. **** UPDATE***I contacted the seller and they were extremely quick with responding. They are sending me out a new gate. Someone but have bought a new one and put this old one in the new box to return.After paying over $100 for a gate you would think they wouldn’t try and send you a used broken one. We received the gate and took it out of the box. As soon as we lifted the gate from the box a bunch of black broken pieces fell out. The gate is all scratched up so clearly it was broken and returned then sent to us. We decided to try and put it up anyway because we have a 11 month old and needed something asap for our stairs. After getting it on the wall we noticed that some of the black broken pieces were actually from the top of the gate where it gets secured to the wall. So now the gate does not stay locked in place it’s easily pops out of place off the wall. Another issue is that the twist locking for you to be able to move it once it’s positioned how you want it does not actually get tight enough so you can literally push the gate either way and side to side. The other broken pieces that came with it was the bottom. When you open the gate it will swing shut but there is nothing stopping it from swinging all the way in so you have to make sure to close it instead of using the self close.

I was having such a hard time finding a gate for the bottom of the stairs that would fit with the old condo wall cut outs and such so my baby couldn’t crawl up the stairs and this was finally it for us! We anchored it into the wall and it’s very sturdy and it’s pretty tall which is awesome since my baby is very tall as well so should work for a while. Pictures provided to show you how neat. Thank god for this gate design!

Right out of the box, I can tell this baby gate is different than the rest. It is metal and feels extremely sturdy. I bought this model because I need something that can keep my little one safe on a non typical staircase. With a normal baby gate, my little would still be able to climb up a step and potentially fall and get hurt. This gate is an amazing find! Easy to install and a breeze to use! I highly recommend if you need something other than your typical straight gate!Edit after setting up: I discovered through another review that you can actually remove a panel, which I wish was included in the instructions! Anyway, by removing a panel, it made this gate an even better fit for our space. The door operates smooth and I LOVE that it has the option to stay open as well as includes an option for the door to open both ways. Set up was a breeze and my husband had it up in less than 5 minutes.

Don’t bother with this gate. The first one we ordered had a broken hinge. I sent it back and ordered another one. It was broken in the same place.

This product works for what we needed. It does slides a little on carpet but it’s fastened to the wall studs. It comes with anchors but it even tells you to use the wall studs for safety.Do not let your child hang on the fence or use it for standing. Arms and legs fit easily through. They can fall and snap a bone if they twist the wrong way.

When we needed to find an adjustable gate to fit our weirdly shaped stairs, this DreamBaby gate was one of the top contenders. We were impressed by how heavy-duty it felt. The lock was better than other ones we had seen, but not as good as the locks we had on our old Regalo Easy Step extra wide gates. And we liked that the door could be adjusted to open both ways or only one way and that this one was pretty much ready to be installed right out of the box. This DreamBaby gate did fit the space at the top of our stairs, but the only reasons why it ultimately lost out to the Kidco Auto Close Configure Gate were because (1) Kidco offered a 9" extension piece that we could swap in to fit better into the space (I could only find a 24" extension piece for the DreamBaby Newport, nothing smaller) and (2) the joints that you tighten to hold the shape on the DreamBaby gate didn't seem very sturdy, as if the shape wouldn't hold when subjected to kids pulling and pushing on it, which i thought could be dangerous near the stairs. The Kidco gate had caps that you could put on the joints that did a much better job of locking the shape you wanted to hold. DreamBaby was way cheaper than the Kidco, though, so if cost had been a bigger issue for us, I would have opted for this DreamBaby gate.

We had a hard time finding a baby gate for the top of our stairs. This gives us enough space to create a landing so we are not trying to open a gate while moving up or down a step at the same time. It is very sturdy, my baby has already tried to push it and it is very stable. Definetely follow the instructions to secure it properly. A great safety purchase!

Gate is sturdy and well made, easy to install, and well designed. We've owned several now, from different manufacturers, and this one has been the best, hands down. Thanks Dreambaby!!**Update, one year into ownership/operation - a tiny plastic piece broke in the gate (it still fastens, but doesn't lock), and the customer service rep at Dreambaby was very kind, prompt, and helpful. Problem quickly solved. The gate has otherwise operated very smoothly with daily use, and is truly a well made product. I will not hesitate to buy from this company again for all future needs, and have recommended them several times to friends.An install note - if installing through baseboards, it is easy to cut and paint a small piece of wood to go under the top mount, making it even with the bottom mount through the baseboards (see pic). You may have to use longer screws in this case, to reach the studs in the wall.
