Pentair EC-520554 Salt-Chlorine Generator, Almond

I like the indicator lights. Had to put adaptors on the in and out flows for a 1.5" PVC instead of 2". Easy to find at Home Depot/Lowes.

Cheaper than the pool store and we were able to install ourselves. Great product so far. Hope it last.

My pool salt cell stopped working about 5 months after it was installed. I reached out to Aabaco Environmental through Amazon and asked for help. The Rep, Amy, initially refereed me to the manufacturer to get the issue diagnosed and then confirmed the cell was bad. Amy immediately sent me a return label and 4 days later the new salt cell arrived. A couple of days later the new cell stopped working and I reached out to Pentair and Amy again and found out I had a user error. Amy gave me her direct number and told me that Aabaco Environmental is a small family company who stands behind their products and that she would make sure this got resolved correctly. Easy install

t is installed exactly as instructions say. I was just a replacement for the same model, so hook it up and plug it in. All lights are working, however, it is not producing chlorine. Had all levels tested according to instructions, installed it,shocked the pool with dry chlorine, set it on 100% for three days, tested three days later, zero chlorine in the pool. Test (at the pool store) said it needed a gallon of chlorine (they said power was the same), however, put a gallon of liquid chlorine in the 11,000 gallon pool. Tested 3 day later, zero chlorine. It has all the right ph, salt, etc. levels correct (I had all these tested before installation, before the powered chlorine, after and prior to and after the liquid chlorine application. The unit's lights are all correct however it is still not producing chlorine. Next I am going to super shock the pool with five gallons of chlorine and leave the unit at 80 or 100% and test three days later, if it is zero chlorine, the unit is not working and will have to be returned for a replacement. BE AWARE! The manufacture will only provide a 60 day warranty on this product. Because you purchased on-line as compared to a brick and mortar store or by having the product installed by a professional or licensed pool builder/service company. This is crap by the manufacture! Normal is 2 years to 3 years.

I have owned several chlorine generators Hayward/goldline, jandy, Pentair is by far the best design. Flow detection built into the device, all electronics built into the device, self cleaning very nice easy to use controls. That being said. I always shelter this product from the sun with a shade or in a shed. If having problems with chlorine generators you are not monitoring your acid levels properly. These generate a base condition while operating naturally causing scale on the parts and on your tile. This must be offset with constant addition of acid to balance. Personally I have found the Pentair acid injection system to be simple and it integrates with this cell perfectly giving you more control over the cell. Fill it with 4 gallons of acid set it and forget it. Fairly cheap and it really makes the pool nearly maintenence free. Bonus is that if installed right it injects the acid right infront of the chlorine cell giving the cell a little help.
