Resilient: Restoring Your Weary Soul in These Turbulent Times

I just finished the book last night (which I rarely finish books cover to cover these days) and can’t say enough good things about it. John does an incredible job of giving practical tools to deal with the rough things brought in by the pandemic. He also does great putting words to all the chaos that is going on in our world today, which I found very help in identifying what was going on to know how to heal and move forward.

There are so many concepts in this book that I want to keep living with and exploring for a while. Some really interesting thoughts around the indwelling Christ. Reflections and interpretations of the past few years of the world and the pandemic were very interesting and thought provoking. In addition to reading the book I have been working with The Pause App and very specifically “30 Days to Resilience.” It’s my intent to take a small group through this book soon.

This is John’s best book yet. I have several of his and this one surpasses Waking the Dead. There is both a depth here of God’s heart, as well as a gentle drawing closer to the love, peace and heart of the Father. There is a soothing balm in the words of compassion and gentleness, and a welcoming into life with Jesus to heal and “restore my resilience.” Thank you, John and crew. I got the “Pause” app and it has provided an amazing time with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in ways I’ve not experienced before. The prompts there to “linger” (I think that’s John’s new favorite word 😊) slowly, inch by inch, provided me a union with God such that I hear Him speaking to my heart and mind more frequently. It is amazing. Thank you, John, all those behind the tender voices on the app, and all involved in producing this life-giving tool to draw us all closer to the heart of the Father.

LOVE this message! And I strongly recommend doing the accompanying 30 day resilient app. It will usher you into deeper union with god in miraculous ways. John Eldredge is one of the best Christian voices out there.

I was annoyed by the repetition but the repetition was essential to the overall impact of the message; claim the love and protection of Jesus. Make Him the center of your life. I was a little put off by the end times theme in that Jesus admonition that He “will come like a thief in the night” is entrenched in my brain so we cannot know when that will be and we must live every day as if he might come today. Overall I felt better after reading this book.

In this book, John gave practical ways to restore our souls! A must read AND listen for everyone who are brave enough to admit .. My soul longs after YOU Jesus!

Excellent book and I highly recommend.
