Pellet ProComplete Upgrade Kit with PID Controller | Compatible with Other Brands

First off, I bought this controller as a complete kit on 07-01-2018. Everything needed to upgrade my pit boss 820 was included in the kit. My wife and I use the pellet grill throughout the entire year as long as the weather cooperates. As advertised it holds the temperature you set just as well as the oven in the kitchen. In NOV 2018 we smoked turkeys for our family Thanksgiving dinner, They were perfect. I highly recommend that if you want the best temperature controller and smoked flavor from your pellet grill, Buy this complete kit, you will NOT regret it. We have several friends that also have pellet grills of different brands, and after seeing how well this controller works, they also invested in the kit and everyone says they love the ease of using the grill with this controller it is so easy to use and holds temp so effortlessly and the smoke flavor is fantastic. I can't say enough good about this kit. The last thing I will say is if you have any question about the controller or installation their customer service is the best.

Amazing controller. Completely different operation compared to original. Easy to install and best of all....drum roll......... PERFECT temperatures. No more crazy swings or flame outs. Pure perfection. I would dock a half star if I could over the feel of the face of the controller, but that’s literally my only teeny tiny complaint. PERFECT temperatures. You’ll absolutely love it I regret being on the fence for so long.

I installed this control on my 8 year old Traeger that had no problems but I just wanted to get mor smoke and have a shut down cycle. This is now less than a year later and I have had 2 auger motors and 3 combustion motors burn up, and ruined my plans for a BBQ. I call this item a complete piece of junk,and a waste of $400.00. I will say the company has sent me some replacement parts, however they should last more than several uses. Update this review to say that the manufacturer actually called me and had me send the control board back so they could rework it. It has now worked for 4 months with nothing burning up so we shall see. I did appreciate the personal contact and understand that he really wants to get to the bottom of the issue.

I bought this controller to replace the stock unit on a Traeger Junior pellet grill that never really worked right. I’ve had the grill for about 10 years, and this controller for a year and a half. I am amazed at how well this controller holds its set point. I can set it and forget it anywhere in the temperature range, and it holds very steadily. I run ThermoWorks air probe in the grill at all times, and aside from when opening the grill, it holds at +/- 10 degrees for as long as you keep the pellets full. It’s a big investment, but if you’re struggling with your current grill, I don’t think there is any better upgrade.

Finally installed it today in my Costco bought traeger with the warmer underneath (odd model). Was pretty easy. The only issues were that I had to drill out the 3/16 hole to a 3/8 hole for the thermometer and the controller mounted using the self tapers, honestly I was confused because it didn't fit right but I made it work. The way this operates is neat. It pulsates to increase smoke, shut off for smoke. The controller is all about smoke. I've never seen this amount of smoke coming out of the traeger. Very happy, smoking a filet right now. It's no brisket but it'll do. Thanks smoke daddy!

Since installing this my chicken is now covered in black soot after cooks. I called support and they seem to know this an issue. Offered to have me send it in so they could tweak the fan speeds. I'd stay away from this kit.

This kit is excellent and easy to install. Why two stars? It says it’s a complete upgrade but didn’t come with a hot rod. That’s the part in my Träeger that burned out and the whole reason I bought it. I then spent an hour running around town looking for one since they have been back ordered for 6 weeks. A total hassle when the grill is completely disassembled and you have to go looking for partsNOT A COMPLETE KITMISSING A HEATER.☹️

I’ve owned my Traeger for 3 years now and my biggest complaint was it wouldn’t hold a constant high temperature. When the PID controller finally died I purchased this and I’m glad I did. Not only does it get hotter than it ever got before (500 deg) but with the variable speed fan it recovers from temp drops due to opening the lid faster. It also consumes les pellets and holds temp almost to the degree. To be honest knowing what I know now I would have upgraded to this before my original unit died.
