It’s pretty hard to tell someone they “must have” a set like this in their collection. You may after all be happy with just the original album which is in this set in a remastered version.If, like me, you enjoy alternative cuts, demos, live versions etc then this box set is for you. The 8 discs are found in the back of an album sized book with an essay on the backdrop to the making of the album, conversations with the band, photos and the track lists of the albums themselves.And yes I say albums because that is how they are presented. After the original album there are 3 differently titled CDs with different track lists and running orders that could be seen as what the album could have been. Some tracks like alameda or war on war make an appearance on each disk but there are some alternative tracks that make appearances as well. Then there is an album of demos a live set and a radio set with interviews to round it off.Will you listen to it all repeatedly? Probably not. Will it look great on the shelf and be good for random exploration? Absolutely
