Tears to Triumph: The Spiritual Journey from Suffering to Enlightenment

It's already changed my life!
My first read through of this amazing book has already changed my life, and I intend to read it several times more. It's a slim book that is absolutely masterful in covering a topic we so much need in the world right now--how to come back to our true selves in the midst of what seems like overwhelming chaos, pain, cruelty, dishonesty, corruption, and despair. There IS another way, and Marianne has remained so faithful to this truth even as she too has suffered the setbacks of any human being trying to find light in a darkness that can feel so overwhelming. This book represents a different voice:a voice we need to hear in America; a voice we need to hear in the world; a voice we CAN hear in the depth of our own souls if we're willing to listen. A still small voice that is the only one speaking of real salvation. Thank you Marianne for your work and example.

Guide to navigating through hard times
“All of us yearn for happiness and love, and sometimes we find it,” writes Marianne Willamson in her new book Tears to Triumph: The Spiritual Journey from Suffering to Enlightenment. “Yet most of us are visited at some point by sorrow as well. A relationship, a job, a particular circumstance brought us happiness—but then something went wrong.” Can you relate? I can. If you are spiritually inclined (or even if you are not) Tears to Triumph is one of the best books I have read on working through hard times. The author speaks from experience in writing about challenging life circumstances. “I know something about suffering, as twice I’ve been diagnosed as clinically depressed,” she says. “I’ve also experienced personal tragedy and the deaths of loved ones. I’ve suffered through devastating betrayals and disappointments. I’ve felt on more than one occasion that I had lost any chance of happiness I might have ever had.” Yet Williamson has transformed these painful events to gain new spiritual insights – insights she shares with her readers in Tears to Triumph.Sometimes I read criticisms of a metaphysical type of spirituality, like Williamson espouses, from religious conservatives. “You deny the harsh realities of life with your positive messages,” they may say. Williamson, who bases her work on A Course in Miracles, does not shy away from darkness and pain in this book. “Grief and sadness can be part of a transformational process, one that should not be automatically labeled negative,” she believes. “Difficult emotions are at times appropriate; they can be exactly what we need to experience in order to truly heal, grow, and get to the other side of our suffering with meaningful lessons learned.”As with another book I reviewed last year, Ellen Debenport’s Hell in the Hallway, I’m getting the message that it is healthy not to deny pain but to feel your way through it. The hope is that you come out stronger and wiser, and through the lessons learned you can be of service to others. In her book Williamson emphasizes prayer and forgiveness as aides to healing.“A prayer for a miracle is not a request that a situation be different, but a request that we see it differently,” the author writes. I recommend reading Tears to Triumph for help in transforming your own painful experiences to something good – for yourself and for others.

Marianne Williamson makes herself vulnerable and open to her own pain and healing which creates a space for the reader to feel l
This book was a page turner. As a Recovery Coach, I am utilizing this book with all my highlighted pages with my clients. It is an honest, truthful, insightful and helpful look of the concept of God in our lives and how to look at each event as a life lesson to be learned from. How to embrace and walk through the pain, not try to hide from it. It is when we can embrace this that we can walk forward a different person. Marianne Williamson makes herself vulnerable and open to her own pain and healing which creates a space for the reader to feel like they are linked with Ms. Williamson through life's shared pains. With this book, I have been able to extend an extra layer of help and guidance to my clients through the insights and examples provided.

NOW...
Another slam dunk by our Lady of conscience. If you have a heart you need to read this latest of her updates on the insane state of our personal & collective psyche & what to do about it now. NOW. Years ago I gave her work a cusory look. I saw her as speaking my language but dismissed it as more of the same mystic truths I barely understood. NOW after orderly reading & rereading I see how she breaks new ground & goes right to the heart of things with really easy to understand & relate to expansions & elaboration I badly needed & that exist nowhere else to my knowledge. Marianne is the leading edge of The Way for all time. The objections & accusations of 'malpractice' by Officials, Experts & Authorities of theology & their studious followers does not stand. Not even the best of the Zen or other Buddhist traditions (lineages are all official) can match her insight (they really have no insight - only deep confusion & continual repetitions of the same worn out words & phrases. Marianne stands apart as a major spiritual leader, giving her all to all who can receive it. Opening the Way as it has never been opened in the past 900 years. She stands amoung the great Truth tellers of all times. The time for a Change is NOW.

Powerful and Transformative
This is a wonderful book that addresses human pain and suffering as well as how to approach it from a spiritual lens. I’ve read several of Marianne Williamson’s books and have been very moved by her ideas, insights, and theology. Although this is not my all time favorite book written by her, it still has a very powerful message. This book really tackles the issues surrounding depression and how our society and the medical industrial complex address it. It is amazing how our prescriptive society treats every issue today, especially depression. It’s not that some people shouldn’t take medication due to chemical imbalances in the body but there are an overwhelming number of people that instead of taking a pill need to look at it from a spiritual angle. Suffering can do a lot of good after the initial grieving period. But the point is we need to allow ourselves to grieve in order to move on instead of taking pills to suppress our emotions. I am really glad this book was written. Marianne also included some very helpful and supportive prayers in the reading. Additionally, there are some great chapters towards the end of the book about Buddha, Moses, and Jesus which I really appreciated.

Took several reads to get to the end
I have picked up this book to read from the start countless times and because I'm always feeling better from the first few words to the first few chapters I never get beyond that... I have now finally finished the entire book, not because I needed to but because I wanted to... I often start books like this then switch to another without ever finishing one... First time for everything and I'm glad this time I read it through to the end.. I doubt it will be the last time though.. Enjoy the book and it will truly take you from tears, one step at a time to Triumph...
