This eBenk LANC remote control works camcorders and cameras with LANC jack's. It puts full camera control within your reach. This precision remote gives you the ability to zoom, record, and control shutter release functions from several feet away. Works with most Canon, Sony and JVC cameras with a LANC input. Does not work with Panasonic cameras.

Works with the Sony HDR-PJ710v and 760v as well as the CX series
The zoom buttons do click which is a little silly since the microphone on the camera picks up the sound, which many here have documented well.I have only had it for a 2 days but wanted to let people know my Camcorder model works with the unit Sony HDR-PJ710v. It is nice that it comes with the Sony 10 pin adapter also, i didnt realize it and order one off ebay a while back. The clamp is weak but could potentially be replaced with a sturdier bolt on clampThe wire is a little short maybe 22" with the adapter on it, so I will need an extension for when i extend the center column of the tripodFor the Sony HDR-PJ710v camera the +/- buttons nor the N/F buttons seem to do anything, ill update if i notice anything later...The "On Screen" button changes the onscreen data to "off", "on" or On Screen Controls (zoom and record with the touchscreen)The record and photo buttons work as they shouldZoom rocker works well and is easy to control (if only it didnt click it would be perfect)Zoom Speed Dial works geatCamera On/Off slider is functional (meaning it turns the camcorder on and off) but it is hard to slid and with the until only using a pinch grip to mount it to the tripod and using it with just you thumb it is hard to slide..... perhaps it will loosen over time.Great Functionality for the price!

Very happy with the product...
I'm Very happy with the product for the price!. Got this controller in 3 days from the date of purchase. I'm using it for Sony DCR-TRV-25.Two notes: 1) would be nice if the zoom rocker had the option of speed control build in, in addition to the hard-set one - I'm happy with what it has, I can do some nice and steady zooms. 2) the rocker has a rather loud click when engaged, but I added some very thin foam (about ¼") underneath the rocker switch - (to do this you need to open up the unit, 3 screws, one at the back and two on the top front under the label).....Two months later...Just completed a new project, the rocker (with the foam pad) performs excellent! and with a little practice, the speed can be managed with no problem. I'm still very satisfied with this product.

For the price it's ok
For the price it's ok, not the best. So, I've seen a lot of comments here about it not working and making the camera turn on and off. It'll do that unless you have both the camera and the remote turned ON BEFORE you plug the remote into the camera. And you have to do the same to turn it off, don't turn the camera or the remote off, unplug the remote BEFORE you turn off the camera. If you do that it works great, I have it on my Vixia HFG10 and it works fine as long as you follow those instructions. The one thing I don't like about it is that the zoom control is really loud, you can hear it click on your recordings, so be careful when you use the zoom during a shot that requires good audio. Also, the photo button doesn't do anything, I wish it did because I hate that on the Vixia HFG10 if you want to take a picture you have to use the touch screen, which bumps the camera, so it would have been cool if the photo button on this remote worked, but it doesn't, oh well.

Works For Me
Got mine last night and tested it briefly on my Canon HF S20 - surprised to find the focus buttons worked too while in manual focus mode. Not sure what else might work beyond the zoom, record, and on/off. The variable zoom has a multitude of settings to adjust zoom speed as well - possibly more `variable' than trying to toggle the switch on the camera itself actually. The rubber alligator clip cushions seem like they might help to absorb just enough shock/pressure to really help out with keeping your zooms steady - even on a my really light camera/tripod setup. This was my goal in purchasing this remote for the most part and I am so far very pleased with how it seems to do with that. I can't imagine that for the money that it can't be worth it even if it doesn't last very long.

Works for Canon Vixia HF G10
Look, the Canon version of this is $300. This product is a great deal even if it's not perfect.Yes, it's flimsy and the buttons click. So in a quiet shooting environment, you'll be disappointed. I'm shooting from a balcony with miked people, so it's no different than just clicking buttons on the sound console.Zoom speed, zoom buttons, record, photo, and focus all seem to work with the Vixia. On screen and search didn't immediately do anything, but I'm not sure what they're supposed to do. The on/off switch causes the canon to power cycle on and off, so just leave it in the on position and forget it.If you need one-handed operation with a tripod, this is a great inexpensive solution.Benk: if you're read these reviews, spend a little more on quiet buttons and you've got a home run.

Marginal for Canon HF-G10
For the Canon Vixia HF-G10 HD camcorder:1) If camera is Off and the eBenk is plugged in while it's button is Off: can then use the eBenk button to turn camera On. But it does not stay on: the camera starts to cycle off, then back on, etc. The eBenk button cannot now be used to turn camera off: have to unplug the eBenk from the camera, then use the camera's power button.2) So, to use this at all: turn camera on, have the eBenk button at On, THEN plug the eBenk into the camera.3) Zoom controller works well except at the 'slowest' setting of the speed knob on the eBenk: at that setting the zoom starts out at "speed 1", then switches to a much higher "speed 2". And "speed 1" is substantially higher than the uniform slow speed that you get when that eBenk speed control knob is one notch above the "slowest" setting.Overall: useful to control zooming (with above caveat), and useful to start/stop recording.Since I typically stay with AF, have not (yet) checked out the focus control buttons.
