Shires Mesh Horse Equine Fly Mask with Ears UV Protection (Full Black

These as by far the nicest fly masks I have ever purchased in 24 years. The face screen is well made and thick, the face straps have are wide and seem durable with a good amount of Velcro. The horses seem to have better vision through them as opposed to the grey mesh type. The nose is reinforced. The orange is much brighter than pictured in the listing but these are really nice. I bout a horse size for my 15’3 quarter horse and the same horse size for my 16h appendix. It fit both horses perfect. I uploaded some pictures.

Nice fly mask - well made, but gets a little warm in hot humid weather. I think I'll save it more for fall use. I love the way my mare can see through it. Runs large -- a cobb/arab size fits my 15.1, 1100 lb. quarterhorse/appaloosa mare.

The mask itself seems very durable. The mesh on the face isnt thin or cheap, and I really like the strength of the double velcro straps under the jaw. Runs a bit big. I ordered a "full" for both my paint horses and it's not as snug as I would like, however, I pulled the velcro straps tighter and that should do the trick. I just recieved these masks today, so I will update a lil further down the road with how durable, etc they really are. This is my 5yr old geldings very first fly mask experience and he tends to do well with his winter blankets, but we will see how this mask holds up in the long run. Inside, near the ears, there is a fuzzy liner (shown in pictures). The ear covers themselves seem to be very nice breathable mesh material. And the material of the mask seems very well made. Would buy again.

This mask has been excellent for my paint mare who has a slight tendency to rub off and destroy her fly masks... So far, it has stayed on for a week solid and is all in one piece. She seems pretty content with the fit, very roomy around the eyes so no rubbing issues there. I ordered the full size and the Velcro is a little long, but didn't want to compromise the fit of the rest of the mask. Very great quality, likely to purchase another of this mask in the future.

Works well on my slight Arab (cob) and monster of a TB (horse). I also think the straps give some leeway on sizing. My Arab has a leaky left eye, so I clean it weekly, and it dries overnight hanging on her stall. There’s fleece where it makes contact with skin, and neither of them has had any rubs (they also only wear it for 7 hours max). Said monster plays hard with a friend and has had 3 in 2 years…but still worth it to replace for the money and how well it works! Also nice to use when treating the eyes for injuries because the fine mesh keep out almost everything even if they roll in sand (at his experience is also with the monster who has had 5 eye injuries in 3 years with no ill effect after prompt treatment and protection with a mask for 3-5 days).

I put this on my boy who stays out 24/7. I like the small netting because it seems to work well to keep mosquitos out. It also seems to stay on pretty well which is hard to find for a horse that stays outside full time. My main complaint is that I've had it about 2 months and the fleece/ soft fabric part that comes into contact with my boy's nose is already rubbed away leaving it with a stiff part in contact with his skin. I am going to have to figure out a way to pad that area again. Overall not bad but not as durable as I had hoped.

Protects from flies, allows horse to see through the mesh, fabricated in good quality, but be careful with fit. Our fit choice was somewhat over-sized for our specific horse. Only comment is that the mask does not have a wide spread of adjustment if the size is too large. That said, it works well enough not to return for different size. When this one wears out as these tend to do over time, we'll keep this purchase on record and order one size smaller.

I love how wide and “loose” this fits on their head. I have a gray horse very prone to rubs and this has yet to irritate him. Stays on when he rolls (which he does constantly… naturally, as he is gray 🙃) which is very impressive. I’ve never found this laying in the paddock in the morning, always on his head! Has great airflow and seems very comfy. Highly recommend.

This is the first face mask my itch horse has ever kept on. It's lovely quality and does not rub and the eyes of the mesh has not dented in which was a concern I had. The little bald spots from rubbing and insect bites around her eyes are now healed up and her eyes are not weeping. She seems to like it. I highly recommend. ***Update after 12 months of being worn constantly not including winter when it wasn't worn its still good to use. Shows signs of wear a few little holes in the ears but the stitching is perfect. It's kept its shape but will need replacing for next year. Almost 2 years of use on a sweetitch horse without being rubbed off is impressive and has made a real difference. I would highly recommend and will replace for next year.

Brilliant fly masks. Good fit and lined with fluffy sheepskin inside for comfort and to stop rubbing. Nice, lightweight and breathable but still god quality material. This is the 6th Shires mask I've bought, will be getting some more! I also like how the different sizes are colour-coded i.e. red - cob, blue - full...makes it easier when trying to sort them all out!

The Velcro lasted less than a month, was shockingly poor for what I paid.. I’ve brought a cheaper one and has lasted longer and still looks like new

I like the way this mask gives good clearance of eyes, also secure and looks relatively comfortable. I would have preferred white also the added trip at top, designed for comfort can get a little sweaty on very hot day

I bought 2 of these for my tb and cob. Bought full size when I normally get cob size. They fit lovely, great eye clearance, they've been wearing them for a week and have not attempted to get them off so they must be comfortable, no rubbing anywhere, I'm very pleased.Quick delivery too
