One of the best
I’ve only been using Power BI for a short while, so I needed something to help me with the basics and DAX. I bought a few of the books, with good reviews, only to end up searching online for more information. I’m not taking any Microsoft exams, but I’ve found this book to be the best one I’ve looked through, and there’s plenty of information to reference as my knowledge grows. All the extra information about data flows, data cleansing, profiling, and power query is an excellent resource.

it is comprehensive and rich in content
The book is accessible with good organisation and it seems to me that it is a perfect book / revision material for the exam. I am new to Power BI, but after reading and working on the practice materials in the book, I found Power BI to be an attractive skills set. I am glad that I bought this book.

Poor
The book is very basic and does not add any additional insights over and above the Microsoft learn site.On top of that there are numerous editing errors in the book which are really sloppy. Very poor. Save your money.

Not a good book
This book is mostly description of various Power BI options instead of practical learning on exercises. It may be a guide indeed but unlikely will teach how to operate the software. I stopped on 40% of the book and took more practical Udemy course instead. Might work someone else but not for me

Best pal to start Power BI journey
I have received this book as a free copy and am delighted to go through this incredible piece of work. Huge thanks to Orrin and Edward for making the effort to build such a treasure. Be it starting your journey with Power BI or using power bi for a long time or even looking to sit for the PL-300 exam it has something for you.It covers a range of topics for Power BI starting from modelling, Dax, visualisation and performance. It is a comprehensive guide for any data analyst looking to have good coverage on various aspects of Power bi. It gives you confidence in the tool as anyone will have a fair idea of all the above areas. In case, you are already working with power bi for quite some time now you will find advanced topics like performance, advanced analytics and governance etci. nteresting. For someone like me, working with Power BI for such a long time had come across a lot many details which are new to me and extremely important for me to know and understand.I would highly recommend this book as a comprehensive guide to power bi bringing together all important topics in a single place.

Great material to prep with!
A really useful guide on how to become a superhero with Power BI and pass the Data Analyst certification. Follow alongs, practice questions, images, guidance and service introduction from the ground up to provide confidence to the reader on what the services do, how they're used and get you closer to passing the exam.

Only a guide to what may be covered in the exam, not a manual to learn Power BI
If you need to learn how to use Power BI Desktop and Service look for a book that has an example based approach. This book is only a guide to the exam, not a manual to learn Power BI. You will need to find other resources to delve deeper into each section to learn how to do the operations talked about in the book. The book provides example data on GitHub, but there are no examples in the book to use the data against. For example, there is an Excel file in the example data which is used for screen shots in the book, the chapters it is used in show that there is erroneous data and areas that need cleansing or transforming, but when you connect to the Excel file in Power BI it is already cleansed and transformed thus making it a waste of time to connect to to follow the book. The book does describe the Power BI features well and in logical stages, if the author combined exercises with this it would be an excellent book.I took a Udemy course to learn Power BI before I bought this book and was hoping for more from it to help me take the exam. Although I'm disappointed with it, I guess I will complete the book, but only so I don't waste my money.

Enjoyable to read and thorough but the practice questions are not like the PL-300 exam questions
I read this cover to cover several times and believe it did help me pass the PL-300. It's enjoyable to read and explains the topics well so I recommend this book if you're wanting to learn Power BI.One thing to note is that I also highly recommend purchased the Microsoft practice test, which I used extensively and believe is the biggest reason I passed the exam. While this book does have questions that check for understanding, these questions are usually much easier than the questions you'll find on the exam. The exam also asks questions in many different formats, and not just multiple choice like in this book. That's why I recommend using this book while also purchasing the official practice test.

A good foundation to build on.
This book is great to gain an understanding of Power BI, especially regarding terminology, functions, and capabilities. If you combine this book with some of the practice exams, and (if still offered) the Microsoft trainings, you'll be mostly prepared for the exam. The sure way to pass on the first go, is if you use Power BI on a daily basis (my two cents).
