Q: Is this waterproof enough to be used in a shower window (where it will get splashed)?

No.It is a great fan to have when the power goes off. It isnt as powerful as needed but it is better than most I have seen. It does go through a lot of batteries.

Q: what is the trick for getting the batteries to all fit?

put the end ones in first, the middle ones last

Q: Does the fan come with the AC adapter

No. I do not recommend it. It stopped working after a month.

Q: What is the jack size/style to use a cigarette lighter cord with it?

I don't know about the jack size because the 1st time I used this fan the switch stopped working. I don't recommend buying this fan. I couldn't return it because it was past the time I could.
