For the price, this is only OK. The metal is thin and I thought it would not hold up, but I attached a pretty heavy wooden bird house and have a pair of tree swallows nesting in it. I wish this pole had a thicker bottom section that I felt comfortable pounding into the ground. As it is, I had to be careful not to crimp or damage the metal. I was on the fence about 3 stars or 4, but since it's getting the job done, I went with 4.

I purchased four of these pole sets for my bluebird houses. It was quite easy to screw the plastic flanges to the bottom of the houses. I used my own screws that were shorter so that they did not go all the way through to the bottom of the birdhouse and stick out, as they would definitely injure a bird. First thing, I was shocked when I realized that there was no ground stake in the box. I was worried that using a rubber mallet to bash one of the sections into the ground would not work, but I was pleasantly surprised. I whacked in till about half of the first pole section was extremely tight into the ground. Unfortunately, as you add the pole sections, it wobbles and looks crooked. But I've read quite a few other reviews where they had a quick fix for this using tape, so I plan to go back out tomorrow and tape the sections so they stay straight. Some of the one and two-star reviews are ridiculous. This is overall a good quality item, but it definitely needs some reengineering so that the sections fit snuggly. That is all....

Easy to attach to birdhouse and assemble. The fit between the pieces is a bit loose causing the birdhouse to tilt to one side or the other. I put a piece of black electrical tape on the male end of the tubes which snugged up the fit nicely. Birdhouse now sits level. I would buy again as the price is right and it takes no time to add tape to snug the fit between the pole pieces.

I have a Heritage Farms Squirrel Proof Bird Feeder mounted on a pole with a steel, H-shaped base. That feeder has survived many years outside and still is good as new. The pole, however, rusted out at the first joint and collapsed. It is in sections that fit together. The part that broke is the first section that fits into the section that is bolted to the base. Both ends of this section need to be female. Unfortunately, the replacement Universal Pole doesn't come that way. I had fixed mine several years back by taking part of a broomstick that exactly fit the inside of the larger male end of the pole sections and inserting it inside each to join them. Fortunately, I found what was left of this broom and cut another piece of broomstick to fix it again, after the original stick finally rotted. So, I am good for several more years. They don't make this stand anymore, so I can't just buy a new one. I will just keep the replacement pole and maybe find a way to use it next time.

I would not trust it to hold up a deck of cards let alone a bird feeder. i put it together in disbelief that they would even sell something of this quality. If you can’t suspend the bird feeder from a tree or something for some reason and have to mount it on a pole go to Home Depot or Menards and purchasing a couple of pieces of 3/4” galvanized or black iron pipe and make your own for a similar amount of money, bur for 5x’s the strength and stability. The 4 or 5 light weight sheet metal poles that you stick one end into the other to reste a 5’ pole are just cheap light weigh5 metal. even after i had pushed the bottom pole 16-18” into the ground i was still wary of putting the bird feeder on it. another alternative would be to purchase a garden stake/pole that they sell to suspend hanging baskets of flowers from . Do not waste your time and money buying this as i am sure your reaction will be similar and now i have to go through the added hassle of returning it. Please note that this is probably the first time that i have ever written a review like this. Normally i just shut my mouth and say lesson learned, but in this case i was infuriated that a company that sells such nice bird houses would sell such cheap flimsy junk to hold them up. My first tip off should have been when Home Depot didn’t carry it next to the same company’s other merchandise. i am sure they got tired of hearing customers say, “WHAT!! “

It's easy to assemble but I think my bluebird house will disappear in a wind...there should be a metal ground sleeve in which I could lock the pole with set screws, and the plastic platform mount should be metal and clamp down onto the post

Fab item, easy to assemble and put up.

Once it is secured into ground it loses some height. Not very stable in ground. Found nicer in local nature store, costs more but you can see what your getting.
