Ship Ahoy
I honestly don’t know where to begin or how to start this review, just know that The Ship Beyond Time is another five star read. Yes, Heidi “She did that” Heilig has done it again with this stunning swoony sequel. I mean my edges are snatched. The Ship Beyond Time is just as captivating and adventurous as the first. This time around Nix is at the helm of the Temptation trying desperately to change her fate as she learns that her best friend and the she’s grown to love might be lost to her forever.Seriously, the first 5 chapters alone will have you hooked, line and sinker. With mind-blowing world building get ready to set sail on an adventure of a lifetime. Meet new characters and fall back in love with the crew of the Temptation, while getting all the feels from the epic swooniness that we all crave. For all the Kashmir lovers out there, the author has dedicated a few chapters to this lovely and poetic swoony dream. I just absolutely loved reading from Kash’s point of view. It’s downright criminal how devastatingly handsome Kash. Definitely a top 5 book boyfriend material. So here’s hoping to more Kashmir in the coming future. Here’s to putting that out in the universe. Please make it happen lolBeyond that, read how Heidi weaves together fantasy, history and folklore so seamlessly—become entranced by this breathtaking story. A story full of heart. A story filled with a diverse cast of characters. Each one more complex than the next. I seriously, can’t recommend this book enough. I hope everyone pre-ordered and demand their libraries carry this book because you will not be disappointed. The Girl From Everywhere and The Ship Beyond Time are two book that everyone needs in their lives.P.S. I know this can’t be the end of this series. Not with that ending.*Originally posted on creatyvebooks(dot)com** Received an advanced copy via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.

Sailing Through Time
This sequel to THE GIRL FROM EVERYWHERE was very good. The characters Ms. Heilig has created are people I enjoy spending time with, especially Nix and Kash. Their romance isn't overdone, with the main focus of the book being on Nix trying to solve a series of problems by traveling through time on a ship. The main problem in this book is whether or not she can save Kash, the love of her life. Ms. Heilig's writing is excellent, and at times brilliant. She occasionally overdoes the similes and metaphors, and can overwrite a sequence making it go on far too long, but for the most part her writing is spot on. The world she has created is also a lot of fun, although a tad complicated. This is not a book for lazy readers. If you're looking for a nice, easy, popcorn series of books, these aren't for you. You have to think, pay attention, remember--and all of the popping back and forth through time can be discombobulating. Indeed, one of the things I like about this series is that Ms. Heilig doesn't spoon feed you. She makes you work it out for yourself, which, in the end, keeps you engaged. My only serious complaint? The typos. I have never, ever seen this many typos, especially in a book produced by a major publisher. Whoever proofed both books, but especially this one, needs to do something else for a living.Bottom line: If you love adventure, time travel, great characters and stories, and unique storytelling, pick up a copy of both THE GIRL FROM EVERYWHERE and THE SHIP BEYOND TIME, and read them back-to-back. You won't be disappointed.

Time Travelling Pirates.... The pirates is what sold it for me!
I have never been super fond of time travel books, the giant holes of time that no author can fix annoy me just enough that it usually keeps me away from these types of books entirely. I was intrigued by this series though with the twist on the time travelling because they are pirates too. Nix is in love with Kashmir and has to spend this book figuring out how to change the past so she knows she can have the future she wants. She also decides after her dad has decided to spare her life and stop going after her mom that she wants to do this for him too. There was the strange villain and Dahut for new characters and I felt for Dahut, I wanted her to be able to just go back to the life she had before she was ripped away from it. This book had more mythology twisted into it and it had more maps to fictional places so it isn't just time travel, but travelling to places that don't exist outside of stories too. I enjoyed the story, the ending made me sad and happy at the same time. I just can't get over the time travel... Also there was Blake and I am giving no spoilers away when it comes to him, just read it and see for yourself. Black deserves his own story in the end. Over all the characters make this book for me, I got invested in their lives and wanting them to have their happy endings, it is what drove me to love the story through the end despite the unanswerable questions.

Captivating
A story so captivating I forgave all its hard times, so intriguing I wish it had never ended, so vivid it could have been real. This is, at least for me, the mesmerizing story of Nix's world falling apart and then coming back together full circle. Heidi Heilig's writing style does really pull you in, it was hard to stop reading. Especially if you read "The Girl From Everywhere" you can't not read this sequel.

As good as the first book - perhaps even better!
I'd loved The Girl From Everywhere and immediately pre-ordered The Ship Beyond Time when it was announced, hoping it would be just as great. Heidi Heilig delivered! Nix is a wonderful, many-layered heroine, and her story ends here in a very satisfying manner. I was actually sad to let her and the rest of the characters go. Heilig did a great job at making me grow attached to them and I'm looking forward to reading more from her.

Not a patch on her first
Heidi could do with learning more about boats if she is going to carry on.No skipper would tolerate hobnail boots on board. The opposite of below deck is not above deck, it's on deck.Nice to a ship is still sailing so no anchor involved. A ship is moored, not bound to the quay.Etc, etc...
