MagnoSoap 3.53 oz./100gr. 4 Bars

I have used this soap since I discovered it when I lived in Spain back in the late 60's. It smells great, not overpowering nor either feminine or masculine but just plain clean smelling. Its an amazing soap. I have used it later walking Caminos across Spain where I used it as body soap, shampoo, and even clothes soap when I washed a few of my underwear in the evenings. The soap is amazing for its unique freshness smell.And where it really excels is as a shaving soap. In fact I vaguely recall that is where it first was offered, made in the village of La Toja, Galicia, Spain. I take a bar traveling and just lather up th bar in my hands, apply to my face and commence to shave.The only drawback is that recently the size and shape has changed, even though the descriptive verbiage on the website on Amazon still carries it the way it once was for so many years. I suppose one could say that it is not "truth in advertising". Whereas it was once an oblong, oval shape bar weighing 4.4 ounces (150 g), it is now smaller and a different shape. Now it only weighs 3.5 ounces (100g) and is a square shape, much like soap is offered today with so many lesser brands. I, for one, do not like it. I would much prefer the older, larger oblong oval shape and heavier. I guess I could return it for a refund but then I would have to choose an alternative, more modern soap and, after giving it considerable thought, decided against it. There is nothing else to compare, in my estimation.

I have used this soap in the past and remembered how much I liked it so looked to see if it was on Amazon. Of course it was! I like it as it is a glycerin soap, non drying, but it's the scent that is the main draw for me. I cannot describe it but it's neither too flowery nor too "masculine", I need a word like Umami, only one for scent. The soap bars themselves are a dark brown. The best part is that the scent carries over into your washing experience, bathing or just as a hand/face soap. Most of the scented products I try smell nice in the package but it doesn't really carry over. This does!

I like trying out different soaps, heard good things about this one. I would hate to use it after a day out in the yard though because I'd keep thinking I wasn't clean. The soap is a dark color so you're going to see some dark tinted water rinsing yourself off. It's a unique scent for sure but not overpowering. Hey, people love this stuff in other countries. I'm a fan. Wish it were a bit more fragrant though.

Bars were advertised as 125g. They are only 100g each. Also don’t seem as fragrant as bars I have used in the past. Nice creamy lather though, and a clean rinse.

My favourite soap since I was a teenager, but very hard to find in Canada! Was delighted to find this cache of Magno soap, as the clean, crisp, almost masculine scent of it not only brings me back to my youth, but also is delightful. Not sweet and prissy, but simply a delightful scent that no one could object to. If was costly as I had to pay a lot for shipping and for the difference in the Canadian dollar, but I felt it was worth it, as I have been looking for this soap for years and years to no avail. So while slightly more expensive than it could be were I living in the States, I don't feel disappointed. All of the boxes were well sealed and carefully packaged. No complaints at all. If you love black soap with a gentle scent like no other soap, go for it! I am glad I stocked up as it will probably be the last time I will be able to purchase this fabulous, oval, black soap!

The soaps have lost their smell.I'm from Spain and I have been using these soaps years ago, the soaps smell really good and it leaves a delicious smell on the hands.The ones you sent me...doesn't smell at all.
