But the information is great and I have been playing a couple of the games suggested. My dogs and I love it. I have two 1/2 lab/1/2 husky pups, 6 months old. They have a lot of energy, they do play differently . . . . like kids, no two are exactly alike. They both love chasing and as recommended I do not chase them, but make them chase me. To really get one on one play time I need to keep one in the kennel and play with the other . . . they take turns, then we all play together. While I haven't finished reading the booklet yet, I have been able to put to use what I have read immediately. There are some very useful tips and suggestions. Definitely recommend it to any dog owner or someone considering owning a dog.

I think this book has an interesting perspective on using play to assist in training dogs. I think it's a great idea as who doesn't love to play with their dog and it seems dogs respond better than the typical stiff training methods. I found The order of this book to be a little odd. I thought the signs for over arousal should have been one of the first chapters and the flow could've been better. Overall I learned a lot from the book.

I am always open to finding new ways to enjoy my two Maltese, Sweetie & Ajax. Since my husband and I are retired, we don't play with the dogs the way families with children would, so I thought I would learn new techniques to help me engage and "play" with my dogs. Haven't finished reading the entire "booklet" yet, but the first two chapters were very enlighteneing. Recommended!

Here are in simple (and short) way described all info one could need to play with a dog. There is nothing else needed to fully injoy with your Fido. I have a dog first time in my life and was very confused what I can or not do and how to play with it. I was searching in Internet, books, vets, prof dog trainers... etc, and I always had feeling I miss something, but this book is all I need. Play is a great way to bond, and teach your dog new things. These authors are tops in their fields, with Patricia McConnell a leading animal behaviorist that is referred to in many dog training and behavior books. Any of the booklets, or books by these ladies is a must read for developing a deep, and respectful relationship with your dog. My highest praise for the team that works with Ms. McConnell!!

Patricia McConnell has done it again! This book really helped me with helping my current dog and new dog get along better. It also has great ideas about ways to play with your dog!

Very interesting and explanatory guide to working/playing with your dog. I think the fact that we have two elderly and deaf rescues makes it only slightly useful thus the four stars. Well written and humorous.

This little book is a short, easy read that explains the importance of play for many reasons: bonding, enrichment, learning, exercise, etc. It includes instruction for how to engage your dog in play (including dogs that don't know how), what not to do, ideas for games, recommendations for "smart" toys, tricks you can teach them, etc. Nearly all dog owners should find things of value in this book, and this book would be especially good for novice dog owners.

I liked the style of writing and there are helpful hints in it. I have passed it on to my daughter who has just taken on a working Spaniel and she has found it very good.
