The birds love it! Can't switch back now
I'm located in Northern New Jersey and have been using the plain Kaytee waste free bird food in my feeders for a while. We get cardinals, blue jays, tufted titmice, black capped chickadees, white breasted nuthatches, red breasted nuthatches, dark eyed juncos, various sparrows/finches, Carolina wrens, and the occasional ruby crowned kinglet, goldfinch, and rose breasted grosbeak at the feeder. I also am not opposed to feeding the squirrels. Everyone needs to eat! I was running low on my usual food and can't go to the store, so I decided to give this a try based on its price, availability on prime, and also that is still had *some* millet in it but also had a lot of other stuff in it too, like pistachio, almonds, and pumpkin seeds - things that my birds have never seen before. If I remember correctly, I see mostly just millet, and then some sunflower seeds and some peanuts in the Kaytee stuff, and once all the sunflower seeds/peanuts are picked out, most of my visitors tend to disappointedly dig through the millet and then fly away empty beaked. However, the little guys do still eat millet and I was worried they'd have too much trouble with other larger nut/seed blends I was considering that have no millet in them at all. I also really like that everything in here is chopped up pretty small so that even the smallest of beaks can still enjoy all the delicacies in this bag. Today is the first day that I put this food out, and even though it's drizzling, the feeder is busier than ever. I haven't seen a cardinal eat here in a few weeks (lately they've been stopping by and quickly flying away) but today there are several cardinals eating at the feeder, as well as almost every other bird that I listed. The sparrows, house finches, chickadees and titmice are my most common visitors and they all definitely love it. It is a bit more expensive than the Kaytee food when I can find it on sale in the supermarket, but based on the birds' reactions I feel like I can't switch back now. I guess I'll be using this stuff from now on.

Peanutty!
I like Lyric bird seed. I've gotten samples through the Amazon Vine program, and I've purchased hundreds of pounds from Ace hardware and other places. This mix comes in a heavy plastic RESEALABLE bag. The advantage of 5 pounds of birdseed is that most people won't have a problem hefting it out to the bird feeder. The disadvantage is that is so delicious (or so the birds and naughty-squirrels tell me) that it doesn't last long. The solution to that is to pace your distribution. I've been putting mine out on the rail on the deck. (I choose cheaper bird chow for the feeders.)What you get in this mix is all good stuff. No stems. No sunflower seed shells. Everything is tidy and neat. The mix is going to attract a wide variety of birds. It contains pieces of peanuts, pistachios, and almonds. Also some millet, sunflower kernels and pieces of pumpkin seeds. Everything from Goldfinches to Cardinals will be attracted. Woodpeckers and Grosbeaks too.SUMMARYObviously NOT a mix for those with severe nut allergies. If you and yours are allergy-free this would be a good mix to attract popular and easy to recognize birds. You should also know that the squirrels will not be able to resist the nuts either.Good, clean seed.

100% approved by crew
This bird food is seriously the best smelling bird food I have ever encountered! My wild backyard crew is crazy about it, every type of bird comes by to visit several times a day to eat and get fresh water. One little song sparrow made himself comfortable on the hanging bird feeder that was slightly swaying in the afternoon sun, eating and napping. Too cute.I recommend this bird food and will order the big bag next. Thank you!!

All my songbirds & precious little wood peckers LOVED this product!
WOW! My wild birds LOVED this mix!! The birds I feed daily include, tufted titmouse, nuthatch, red bellied & downy woodpeckers, cardinals, blue jays, chickadees, and several other species. They all loved this mix ..not a drop left! No mess means no attracting rodents, a huge plus for me. I love that the larger birds like the jays need to work harder for the smaller pieces leaving plenty of time for my tiny birds to fill up! I open feed along the deck railing twice daily, early morning and late evening to avoid our resident predator hawks.

MY BIRDS WOULDN'T TOUCH THIS STUFF
This stuff is AWFUL!! Was I looking forward to a “no waste” product but nothing would eat it! I ran out of safflower seeds and wanted to make my life easier because of the mess with the hulls. But what good is it if nothing will eat it. My doves and finches, and even the crows (which I thankfully never had before putting this out) threw a tantrum and chucked it all over my deck! And honestly I don’t think ANY bird would eat WHOLE peanuts! So disappointed in this product. I thought the negative reviews were just flukes but now I think this is just false advertising. Maybe good for some but not here in Texas. And thank the Lord the crows are not liking the safflower seeds I re-ordered because there are literally hundreds in a flock that feed on other feeders in the senior complex I live in. I would go bankrupt at these prices! Definitely not worth it. My doves are happier with the safflower seeds and so are my little finches so I guess I’ll have to be stuck with the mess they leave behind. Also, this came via USPS and if I had known it wasn’t coming to my door like all other Prime I would’ve never purchased it because I have a disability and can’t lift much. It came late and stuffed in a mailbox difficult for me to get without help so I won’t order this again. Returning for refund, see pics.
