Low quality, but with a few tweaks can be fun
I really like the bank for my basketball loving son, but the quality is sub par. Right out of the box, after putting in batteries, I attached the base to the bank. The base secures with 2 small tabs that twist into the ball. This is where the problem is, it doesn't stay secured, it just wobbles in the base and falls out. My son put in maybe 20 coins to try it out, then as we picked it up to put it into his room, the base fell off and all of the coins with it. I was able to solve this problem by just throwing some hot glue on the base and ball, which will have to be peeled off when it's time to take out the coins. It is just a let down, I have seen these type of tab in slot securing before but they always get tight when you twist it in, this just sits there. Also, the wire that runs from the base to the screen/counter just sits inside the ball, it isn't secured; I expect the wire to rip out eventually. Other than that, the bank recognized all of the US coins we put in and counted correctly. I like the little sound it plays when you put money in too.

The speaker works just fine each time you put in a coin
Cute coin bank, it seems to be accurate counting change. The speaker works just fine each time you put in a coin, it cheers you on. I had to take off a star because the bottom won't stay shut and I had to tape it closed. I wanted to give this as a gift for my niece but decided to keep it since the base would not stay on. This would have been embarrassing to give as a gift. Looks really cute but it the base shouldn't need to be taped shut. This would'n last long if I gave it to a child so I keep it on my coffee table.

Basketball Bank!
Basketball Bank! I purchased the Digital Coin Bank Counter Sorter, NUWELL Basketball Talking Saving Banks Money Box with Electronic Counting Function, Automatic LCD Display for US Coins for my son as a way of teaching him how to save some of his money and how fast it can grow. He's a basketball nut so this was perfect. It does take 2 AA batteries that are not included. My only small negative is that it is a little hard to unscrew the battery lid off and on to add batteries. Son loves it.

I bought this and my son loved it but couldn’t push coin through slot (he’s 8 but it is hard to get it in) then it broke a few days later. I bought another one b/c he was upset and it broke after one use. Wires come undone easily, re-glue on both didn’t help. I have one disappointed 8 year old now.

This thing is garbage! Avoid. (Detailed description of problems)
(Summary of issues below)This thing is garbage. Yes it counts coins.... it seems to do that fine when its not broken. However, the build quality of this thing is a joke.Power is supplied by batteries inserted into the base. You twist and remove the base to get the coins out of the bank. Doing this, and pulling the base more than 2.5" away from the basketball results in the tiny power wires, responsible for connecting the battery-base to the counter at the top of the ball, to break free from their soldered connections. The wires have no strain relief or hot glue melted over them to keep them from snapping off of the counter's circuit board when strained.Unfortunately, you need to take the base off regularly because coins get stuck in the various internal components. Also, the basketball is held onto the base by a tiny, 3mm plastic tab. The slightest bump knocks the ball off the stand. If the ball rolls more than a couple inches or tips over, the wires connecting the battery-base to the counter break. This happened a couple times for us. I re-soldered the wires after the first time. I didn't bother hot gluing everything in place because I didn't have any handy. When it broke the second time, it just went in the trash - which is where this thing belongs. Putting that thing where it belonged felt good. The only remorse I have is for the two, perfectly good and new batteries I forgot to remove. They're now covered with garbage juice.$10 might seem like a bargain.... but its way too high for a device of this quality. $0.05 could have bought them enough hot glue to make this thing tolerable. Instead, it seems like it came from an over-sized gumball machine. This thing is marketed to kids, but no kid would be able to keep it intact long enough for it to be useful.Just skip it and get one of those compact units that sits on top of a jar. We have a couple of them - they skip counting a coin now and then, but are way harder to break and give a perfectly fine ballpark figure letting a kid know when its time to cash in their coins.

Refund Requested
My son was so excited to use this, but it does not count accurately. The panel to the batteries was so difficult to remove. It took us a week to find a screwdriver small and strong enough to remove the screw. We went through all this trouble just to find out it does not count to coins correctly what-so-ever. I will definitely be requesting a refund.

I would not buy again. I was excited when I opened the box because it looks like it does in the picture probably better however the bottom doesn’t screw on tight so the coins keep falling out. It’s designed poorly in my opinion.
