Crystalo - 2 Pack Wooden Coffin Incense Sticks Burner - 12 Inches Brass Inlays - Storage Compartment This beautifully handcrafted wooden incense sticks holder allows one to store away incense sticks in style. These sticks can be neatly stored in a compartment on the base of the burner, which can be opened from the side allowing for the sticks to easily slide out. The top portion is used to hold & light the incense sticks, and once lit, the lid can be closed and placed anywhere in the room. As the incense burns, residue is dropped on the tray, while the freshness and fragrance of the incense sticks quietly seep through the wooden passageways and encompass the room in which the burner is placed.

These need a little finishing.
There are many versions of this type of burner with the flip top and storage compartment. I see them in stores that sell Tibetan items and in the crystal & magic shops in Salem for instance. I thought it would be easy to order this and have one for a gift. They're kind of nice. The intent is there. But the overall construction of the ones I received need a bit of finishing in order to be fully functional. I'm a luthier and have a fully functional workbench so it's not an issue for, but I could imagine that for someone without the knowledge of repairs and no access to tools, this could be a real issue. One had a crack along the front of the base section. Not too big a deal, and that was glued, now it's not even noticeable. I kept that one for myself. They BOTH had a problem where the wood was so unevenly cut, or warped after construction, that the top cover couldn't be properly opened all the way. I had to use a dremel tool, a diamond file, and a sand stick in order to get that wood along the rear hinge line out of the way. NOW they both open properly--that took some time. They both also had no way of supporting the sticks. If you put an incense stick in the holder hole, it just flops down and makes full contact resting along the ash-catcher base tray. Useless like that! So I filled the original holes and re-drilled the correct size hole and in a proper slight angle for the sticks to set in there right. NOW they fit perfect and I can close the lid with them still burning and they work fine. While I was drilling, I decided to drill an additional hole below that, large enough to hold a raw Tibetan stick and that works great now too. Both also had issue with the lids closing way too tight, so some additional filing/sanding was required for the box lid to close with a little pressure--just enough to stay closed but not so much that they weren't closing correctly. One of them had a piece of wood sticking up right inside the hidden storage door and that took a chisel to chip that out. NOW it works fine.Whew! A lot to do to get them to be what I THOUGHT I was getting in the first place. One good thing is that they're likely made by hand, that almost seems obvious, but they're thrown together in such a way that there seems to be no real quality control. Once they're worked on and functional they're very nice, but it takes some effort from someone who is at least partially experienced with their hands and has the tools. My guess is that these are made in a much more humid environment. When they're shipped over here to the states they're probably loosing A LOT of moisture and that would explain the lid warping and not fitting right, the crack, etc., but still not the fact that the holes were drilled wrong. If they were as functional as they are NOW once I did the work on them, I'd say five stars all the way. But take this review as a warning as to what you may have to do once they arrive. I can't see that the majority of them arrive fully functional and it wouldn't surprise me if many of them get sent back. It's too bad too because they really are fantastic when they're repaired and functioning. I would get them again but at least I KNOW now that they require a little finishing work.

Very cheaply made
First set came with one of the hinges missing the pin. Replacement came quickly, unfortunately one of them was also damaged near the hinge. Thankfully I now have 2 in working order. Recommend looking elsewhere

They work as they are supposed to work
I had to return the first set I received because one of them was broken. The next set was perfectly fine. They have a hole in each end to hold stick type incense and they also have 2 metal spots to hold the cone type. I've had no real problems with them however I will say, they must be selling lots of these because it appears that there's no time for sanding or other little details during manufacturing.
