Namaste Foods Quinoa Flour, Gluten-Free,18 Ounce – Allergen Free

I loved the idea of flour made from quinoa. I use alternative flours 4 much of my baking. The texture is very smooth and it mixes in well two batters. But cooked product has a bitter taste that needs to be worked around. If I could find a quinoa flour with out the bitter taste I would be a happy cooker.

My husband is gluten intolerant and I simply feel better when I do not eat wheat...so alternatives to wheat flour are always desirable to me. Years ago, I discovered how good Quinoa is as a grain in salads, as a hot side dish with herbs and vegetables added, as a breakfast food. But when we brought home some Quinoa flour and discovered that it was a superior coating for fried chicken and pork chops well, life definitely got a bit better! Fried chicken dredged in Quinoa flour has a very light and very crispy crust to it that is simply wonderful. I buy Namaste Raw Goods Quinoa flour because it is convenient and economical compared to what is available locally. Definitely recommended by everyone in this household.

This product is great. I love baking with Quinoa flour. Sometimes I mix with other flours. Taste is great and Quinoa adds nutritional value that basic white flour doesn't. This brand of Quinoa flour is priced better than many and is a quality product.

I just read about quinoa flour and learned that it contains all of the essential amino acids and a 1/4 cup has 6 grams of protein. I am not eating meat now except for occasional salmon so I think this is a good addition to my diet. The taste is a little different but not bad really especially when mixed with almond or casava flour when baking. It's a small bag, I wish it were a little cheaper but will continue to purchase.

I have been eating quinoa for years, This product does not taste like quinoa, does not look like quinoa when cooked, and does not smell like it. This is not 100% quinoa, or at least maybe a type of quinoa that I am not familiar with. Taste something else, but not quinoa.

It was extremely bitter, which means they did not rinse it before they ground it, or it was not stored in a cool place. I kept it in the freezer.

I have eaten basic quinoa and I was a little concerned how this would taste. The recipe I have calls for the flour to be toasted. THis flour toasted up just fine and you don't notice any flavor from the quinoa in the finished product.

I learned recently that quinoa is a seed - not a grain. And I thought “ no wonder it has all that nutrition!” So I ordered some flour and started experimenting. I made turkey gravy and it was delicious. I’m not going to say it was the best gravy I ever ate but it did not taste funny or weird at all. I think I put it in an apple pie....I want to try it in more deserts. Very glad I got it.
