Save Time and Money In the Long Haul and Save the Environment
Save money in the long run, save time in purchasing and replacement, and save the environment with LED bulbs. These bulbs use a fraction of the electricity used by incandescent bulbs and a substantial fraction of electricity used in fluorescent bulbs. With projected longer life, you'll be making less trips to the store to purchase replacements, and no trips to the hazardous waste site required for the disposal of fluorescent bulbs. So far, these bulbs have been more reliable and longer lasting than incandescent and fluorescent. One star down because they are more expensive up front, but the prices are dropping rapidly and the variety available to fit existing fixtures is increasing. For those who like the warm yellow glow of incandescent bulbs, get the 2700 or 2800 kelvin color range.

Very impressed--my favorite LED bulbs. Very bright and pleasant light.
I am very surprised and impressed with these bulbs. I am converting my house from warm white incandescent bulbs to daylight LED bulbs. I have tried several different brands, including Cree and another ones from home depot. I anticipated quite a difference in their light quality, but I find none. These bulbs all look pretty good. Any differences between them are subtle. These bluefire bulbs are rated as 40 watt equivalent, but I can tell you that they are much brighter than the 60 watt bulbs they are replacing. My bathroom used to have two rows of 6 bulbs at 60 watts each. I replaced them with a total of 4 of these bluefire bulbs (one on each end of each strip) and the resulting room is brighter than it was and in some ways actually less harsh. You do have to get used to the daylight color, but that's not particular to this brand.I also have this in a ceiling fan along with 60 watt equivalent Cree bulbs and other brands and they all seem to be the same brightness. Anyway, these bluefire bulbs have a very pleasant white light and produce a lot of it. By the way, when I turn the ceiling fan on, the bluefire is on instantly, while the Cree bulbs take some miliseconds before they turn on.The Achilles heel of LED lights is that they tend to be more directional. In none of these bulbs is it problematically so. However, this bulb is slightly more directional than the Cree one. Doesn't matter when the light faces out or is inside a diffuser. There is only one place I have this bulb where I wish it was a little less directional: in lights above the mirror in my powder room. The fixture points the bulbs down toward the mirror instead of out into the room. In this one location it looked better with incandescent. I may replace these with Cree bulbs in that spot some time.Anyway, at the time I bought these, they cost about $4 each, while the cheapest bulbs at walmart and home depot run around $8. And the name brands are closer to $10. So I'm doing my whole house in bluefire and I'm pretty happy. I'm not 100% convinced that it will save me money in the end to switch to LED, but I like the quality of light better and I do believe that they last longer than CFL bulbs, which have never delivered on their promise to last a long time for me.

Good product
UPDATE 3/16/2015One of my bulbs died. This is about 5 months of use. I hope the rest of my bulbs does not die this prematurely. Definitely not anywhere close to the claimed usage life.----------------------------------------------------Color: Accurate. It is white and looks the same as my 5000k bulbs from other well known brands like Cree.Power. Killawatt meter it's about 6.5W.Aesthetics: Bulb is a white all around except the base. It is a conservative design but pleasing to look at. It won't make your lamps look ugly like the CFLs I replaced it with.Instant On? yes, as far as I can tell. Did not test these in the cold as they are not outdoor bulbs.I placed these bulbs in my desk lamps. Made things much easier to read. Why only 4 stars? I know LED lighting is still in its early adoption phase but $20 for 4 bulbs is still ridiculous. These bulbs cost less than a dollar to make. The early adoption fee is BS. This is simply price gouging of the environmentally conscious. Unless energy prices are that high where you live, wait a few months because the onslaught from China is coming to drive prices down as more brands appear on Amazon.

After 4.5 years one finally burned out
I installed 6 of these 4-1/2 years ago in my bathroom vanity light fixture to replace its 40W incandescents, which burned out altogether too often. All these years later, one of the LED bulbs finally failed so I ordered another box. The new bulbs still look exactly like the old ones, a perfect match to the fixture. In the fixture the new bulb that has replaced the old one appears to be slightly brighter with color slightly more towards the red spectrum (or that may just be because the old ones have lost a step after so much time). You have to be looking bulb to bulb to actually tell there's any difference so I won't quibble about it. The significant thing is that in a very heavily used fixture these bulbs are now going on 5 years of use, no flickering or any other problem, just steady, well balanced light. That's 5 star performance and I can only hope the bulbs currently being sold remain as effective as the ones I bought many years ago.

4 packs ordered and one defective bulb 2 times
The working product is quite impressive and works as described, I have ordered 2 of these products as I originally received a 4 pack and one out of four was defective, Amazon offered me a 20% credit (Really should have been 25%) but I could live with that. I decided to order a 4 pack since I really needed the 4 bulbs in the fixture and had another fixture that could use 3 bulbs. Of course when I accepted delivery and tried to put these in a fixture and only 3 out of 4 were good. I believe the seller and is aware of the shortcoming, but keeps selling the product. Amazon take notice as I purchase heavily from your site, I am sure another online retailer might be interestd in my business

While we love the feel of the light produced by these bulbs
While we love the feel of the light produced by these bulbs, as others have mentioned one of the bulbs was cracked (one out of four). It still works, but the glass is cracked, making me reluctant to want to use it, especially if the bulb is facing down. Because this is such a common problem, I think they probably need to add some extra padding inside the box to help protect the bulbs.
