I just got a newer mac Studio and do music mixing so fast access to external hard drive storage is important.This cable allows me to connect my Seagate external drive to the c port on the Mac and utilize fast speeds to keep me from waiting on data transfers. I am totally happy with the performance and cable.

Switched over to a MacBook and needed a cable to connect with my hard drive. It works and gets the job done.

I have 3 WD external hard drives that I use to back up photos and videos from my MacBook Pro. When I bought the 2019 MacBook, which only has USB-C ports, I needed to replace my old cables so I could continue to use these 3 external drives. These usb cables worked perfectly. They fit the WD Essentials drive and they fit the MacBook Pro. I tested read and write on all 3 drives and they all performed perfectly. My unscientific conclusion is these are at least as good as the original equipment cables. I would not hesitate to recommend these to a friend.

Fast transfer speeds and durable, it satisfied my need without having to spend $39+ for an expensive dongle. I’d buy again if needed and would highly recommend this product.

Work as designed plug and go

This works great as a charging or data cable. If you happen to have a hard drive that still uses a micro B, this will work for it. I have a new laptop that has type c ports and this allows me to actually utilize the type C. For most people now, they do not have type c thumb drives and such just yet. It is a norm that is rising but this allows me to plug in my hard drives into the type c port without taking up the other USB ports. It will work for the 3.5 portable drives and the transfer rate is fairly fast. It is only a 3.0 speed and not 3.1 unfortunately. This also works with a 2.5 portable hard drive. It powers and transfers from the 2.5 drive pretty well. There are no connection issues or corruption. It is a simple plug and play. The one down side of this cable which is really annoying is that the connector on the micro B side is a bit loose. I tried it with different hard drives and it just does not grip as well. I am unsure why. I tried it with other hard drives and it did the same thing. I examined the teeth on the cable and it seemed fine. It was not indented in or anything which makes me question why it is not holding. I also tried this on my S5 phone and it charge it just fine. It actually did fast charging as well which is pretty awesome. Again though it had a harder time staying connect like it was a bit loose. It will work with type c chargers which gives you that ability to charge the S5 although most phones do not even use that port anymore but still good thing to have. The material of the cable is nice. It is made of thick cover and the neck does not look like it will fray any time soon. There is no heating issue on these cables as well. Overall I think this is a good cable to have. It allows you to use your external drives with type c port while also giving you charging capability. There is no slow in transfer speed but you are limited to just 3.0 so be aware of that. There is a good length so you can run it from your drives to the computer and there are no connection issue other than the physical connection. The micro B side is a bit loose which is a bit of a bummer if you happen to bump the drive a little it will disconnect.
