Syd Arthur is brothers Liam Magill, Joel Magill (bass, vocals), and Josh Magill (drums) and Raven Bush (violin, keyboards, mandolin). Formed in Canterbury, England, in 2003, the band has explored the myriad possibilities of improvisation, taking an exceptional approach born of prodigious musicianship, elemental songcraft, and an unabashed spirit of adventure. Apricity is their third studio album. Syd Arthur will support Jake Bugg on his North American Tour in September.

An old progger's choice for what's worth hearing that's new in this genre.
I'm from the first generation of prog-rock (saw Yes on the Yessongs tour, Crimson for Starless, and Gentle Giant with Octopus when they opened for Mahavishnu at the Felt Forum). I've been pretty disappointed with most people put forth as "prog" since the first U.K. album. I'm saying this to let the reader know I didn't expect much when I first heard of Syd Arthur mentioned as the openers on a recent Jon Davison era Yes tour.I didn't see them, but somehow, I got to hear a little of them then and liked what I heard. This new album is great. I like the sound, the playing, and the overall vibe. I've tried out Big, Big Train, Porcupine Tree, and Glass Hammer and don't like much that I hear from any of them. Syd Arthur, I somehow get. Hoping they stay around and keep producing good music like this.

Very dissatisfied! Would not shop there again.
On 3/28/20 I ordered a Mega RollX2 of Angel soft toilet paper with total cost with shipping was $40.97. This was when everyone was desperate for TP. I received it about at week ago which would be around May 20th. This order had 10 TP rolls that measured 3 1/2 inches tall and 3 1/2 inches across. Name on it is Element and it is made in China!!! $40 dollars I spent for this. What a rip and def would not have bought anything from China.Very unhappy shopper.

Supersonic Syd
I'd never heard of Syd Arthur till last September when I came across 'No Peace' on the radio. It's one of the few times I've got out of the car and immediately looked up the band name online. This is a great album - full of odd time signatures, great melodies and some haunting tunes. How would you describe the band? Hmmm....Nothing OTT - sublime, keyboard driven, no whining guitars, great drums (and you can hear that they are Ludwigs...testament to the recording quality). Check it out.

More modern sounding lp from the Canterbury rockers
Not quite up to the standard of the first Lp. Still good though.

Hardly a bad track
Super band who seem to have stayed beneath most people’s radar for a while. Their albums seem to get better and better. The first 4 tracks on this album are amongst their best material, and there’s hardly a bad track on the album.

Simply the best band of the year
What a sound, what a lead voice, what songs ... my favourite band of the year thus far. Mesmeric stuff and just can't wait for the next CD and must see them 'live'.
