Excellent

A nicely designed full featured powerhouse of a recording interface!
IK Media has a home run here. This is a lightweight, compact, full featured, very efficient audio interface with excellent inputs, midi in and out, high end XLR audio output, a very generous software bundle, and battery or USB power options. There is a lot here to unwrap.Out of the box, the basic functions were easy to figure out. It as a similar control surface to other IK Multimedia devices, so it feels comfortably familiar and intuitive. My first test of the device was recording a few simple tracks into Logic with a microphone and guitar direct line in. It was easy to set the perfect input levels, and the recording I obtained were crystal clear. There was no appreciable lag while recording. Logic found the device instantly and once selected as my input device, made all the inputs available. All inputs worked flawlessly. I plugged my guitar in directly, and used a condenser mic with the onboard phantom power. Attached to the computer, the device is fully bus powered - no batteries required. The mic required a bit more tweaking than the guitar to get the right level. All the cables I needed for connection are included, and there is an attachment so it can be put on a tripod for convenient location on stage. There is a comprehensive user manual available on the IK Multimedia website and it is well worth reading as there are lots of cool features you'll need help finding. Be aware that if you are familiar with interfaces, the basic stuff is easy to access, but its just the tip of the iceberg - this unit packs some great features. The Quattro can also be used as a standalone mixer, without connecting computers or tablets - but there are no EQ controls on the surface, so you'll have to use mic and guitar preamps or effect pedals to dial in precise tone - I've used this with my PA and a Boss VE500 for my vocal input and the onboard preamp on my acoustic electric for guitar, and the sound was brilliant.Connecting to my iPad and iPhone worked just fine. The device runs on battery when used as a standalone or connecting to a mobile device- I haven't pushed the batteries to see how long they last yet, but I'll try to update my review when I do!When my Quattro arrived, it did not have the serial number/registration card included - an email to IK Multimedia support resulted in a response with the number in less than an hour!I'm giving this device five stars - it is easy to use, packed with tools and features, is small enough to fit in a gig bag or guitar case, and so far has functioned perfectly. Like I said, a home run! I'm looking forward to using it more extensively!Pros: Compact, Lightweight, tough, easy to use, deep feature set, excellent mic pres, flexible input/output options, works with computers and mobile devices, powered and unpowered options, functions as standalone mixer, midi in and out, 48 volt phantom power.Cons: As yet none notable.

Portable, Powerful and Versatile
In short, this is an amazing mixer and audio interface in a very lightweight and portable form.It feels sturdy in my hands and everything seems to be well built. The manufacturer is very reputable and they provide great service and support when needed. As soon as I registered the device it came loaded with a ton of free software I can use within my Digital Audio Workstation. The unit itself works very well with condenser microphones that require phantom power as well as dynamic microphones.I also use it a bit differently on a day-to-day basis. I plugged the Line output from my amplifier's speaker emulation into the first input and the DI output from my guitar rig into the second input. I can re-amp the DI track later using a software amplifier like IK Multimedia's AmpliTube.I can also blend these inputs with audio from my laptop (youtube, movies, etc.) and monitor them through my headphones for late-night practice sessions. Extremely portable, versatile, and powerful.I sincerely hope that you would find my review helpful.

Above the rest - stellar portable and primary use
I first used this for my trip to South Carolina which was a road trip from there to Colorado and back in under 5 days. This was going to be my biggest test for portable recording/on the road production. Immediately realized I packed an entire suitcase unnecessary, this does so much. This is not just some hobbyist level production, enthusiast, professional, this interface will immediately stand out to a pro.My primary uses are generally 2 XLR with 48v phantom power. I've recorded with Mac, Android, Windows, and I actually rotate all 3. Several microphones, cloudflare amp, and a few others that directly connect, have not had one single bad experience with this device. I have sense acquired a 4 in 2 out interface they make and meets the same level of quality.
