LIFE SKILLS MATH STUDENT TEXT 3rd Edition

I use this text with a high school special education class. I like the skills that are covered; however, the topics for many of the chapters are inappropriate. For example, the chapter on fractions focuses on making crafts. I skipped this chapter in the book and taught only the skills as my students do not care about and will not use crafts. There was another chapter on bowling that I skipped entirely. I am trying to prepare my students for vocational school after high school, not for arts and crafts and games.

This book contains very basic math skills and don't really cover information that it's useful to students. There is no much information about income, wages, budgets, interest rates, etc. There is too much emphasis on games and sports numbers, which is not really a life skill that is that necessary for students to know for their future.

I bought a couple of AGS books for my use when I tutor. Love the program for basics.
