Dim bulb. Low power. Tripod is a bit flimsy.
Some good, some bad.On the PLUS side, you can bend and angle this light, making it easy to feed red light to parts of your body. (Want it below the waist? Lower it. Want it chest height? Raise it.)On the DOWN side, the tripod they included with it flimsy. If you have a better-quality tripod you might want to use it instead of the included one.On the PLUS side, the cable is long; no extension cord required (in my situation). On the DOWN side, the light the bulb emits is really dim, and not only because half of the LEDs are 850 nm and don't emit visible light. I bought a similar bulb (half 660nm and half 850nm, the kind you screw into any light fixture, and it was several times brighter. All in all I found it disappointing. I like the idea of it very much but the reality, not so much.

Easy to use...
I have psoriatic arthritis and have been experiencing pain on the lower portion of my shins from just above my ankles to about halfway to my knees. This is also the area of my legs that is subject to scaling from psoriasis.I had looked at red lamp therapy devices before, but wasn't too happy with what I saw. But this one that came with a sturdy, adjustable stand and a goose neck for positioning the light looked good to me.What I have been doing is laying on the bed with the red light positioned about a foot from that area of my legs and exposing them at the highest intensity for 10 or 15 minutes at a time, and when I went to write this review realized that I had not had that pain for the past 3 or 4 days. So I do believe it is working and will keep up the treatments and see if it stays away. The biggest fault in not in the device but in the minimal instructions provided. They are on a single sheet of paper, about 6x9 inches in size. Not only do they not clearly tell you how to assemble the device, there is no explanation of how the different modes and brightness features might be used.I would have given them 5 stars had they done a better job at that. The timer feature is good since I do the treatment when going to bed and let the light do its work while I read, knowing that should I fall asleep it will not expose me to the light for longer than the time setting. One caution is be careful about not leaving the AC adapter plugged in. It gets quite hot in just one short session. Far hotter than any AC adapter I have ever seen.

Red Light/Near InfraRed Light Therapy Lamp. Tripod with Gooseneck. Control pod with timer function.
This Red Light/Near InfraRed (NIR) Therapy Lamp has a decent quality tripod, with the smart addition of a gooseneck section. The gooseneck allows for the flexible positioning of the lighting module. The product also touts an excellent control pod along the power cord. Some similar Red Light Therapy Tripod Lamps have a simple on/off switch. This controller gives access to the various modes and features. There’s a button for powering on/off. The Left button, with the clock icon, selects amongst the six timer settings (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 minutes). The top button, marked with ± , accesses the five brightness/intensity levels (indicated by L0 - L4). The right button, with the circling arrows, selects the mode options (Red Light, Near InfraRed Light, Both Red and NIR Light). There’s a digital display that provides visual confirmation of selections. The tripod is reasonably stable and sturdy. When folded up, it’s almost 16 inches. When set up, it has a height range of approximately 3 feet to 4.5 feet. This lamp uses a flat panel with LED bulbs. I much prefer this over a large bulb shape for this type of lamp. The flat panel is less weight and less bulky. And, I feel the rectangular aspect affords a more uniform coverage.Overall, the product exhibits competent design, with quality materials and good manufacture. It does function exactly as expected. The timer function is key for a therapy lamp, preventing overexposure in the event the user falls asleep. Based on favorable initial impressions, this credible Red Light/Near InfraRed Light Therapy Lamp meets expectations. 4.5 - 4.75 stars, with a high level recommendation.

Doesn't seem as effective as other red light devices
The main reason I purchased this was the way a flexible lamp could better apply light to parts of my body that could be difficult with the heat-pad type RLT (red light therapy) options. And to be sure, it is pretty flexible and easy to place.Unfortunately I don't think it is very effective at all. I've had better results using the pad type RLTs for ankle and knees versus this lamp. As a comparison I do feel pain and inflammation relief from other RLT devices but none I can discern from this one. It is that high a degree of difference for me.I think it has some value as an additional bit of light therapy, but wouldn't recommend it as a primary device.
