I absolutely loved this book.The writing is just beautiful and I was captivated from the beginning. Everything about this story drew me in and kept me reading.some of my favorite passages:""I like her, just not anything more than that. She used to do this thing where she'd lean over and kiss me and then take a break to whisper hilarious stuff in my ear and then kiss me again. I'd be screaming, 'What's wrong with you? Fall in love with her, you dick.'""She didn't think that was weird?""Inside. I was screaming on the inside...""-------"I liked that he had hair that was growing without a plan. A smile that came out of nowhere and left the same way. That he was tall enough so I had to look up at him in my dream sequences. I really liked his t-shirts."------We meet Lucy and Ed and their friends on the night they finish year twelve. Well... most of them. They are on the search for Shadow and Poet because Lucy is convinced that Shadow would be perfect for her. Little does she know she already knows him.I love the building relationship between Ed and Lucy. It was sweet and lovely and just want I needed today.

I absolutely adored the way this story unfolded. While the beginning-to-end is contained within a single night, there is no lack of depth. I appreciated the changing view points, creative word choices and exceptional quirkiness. I found myself in a rush to turn the page, so eager to ride along and find out where Lucy and Ed were taking me, yet I tended to slow down to better absorb each carefully chosen word.

Graffiti Moon is my new favorite book! It's adventurous and downright hilarious! I swear I haven't laughed at a book that hard ever! The characters are so funny and real that they are so relatable and easy to fall in love with. The plot was simple and beautifully written. Ed and Lucy have an underlying love building throughout the story that you will be screaming in anticipation! This book definitely goes in my top 5 (possibly top 3!) It left me wanting more even though everything came to closure perfectly. I'm sad the night is over....

I have always loved the night - the feeling of wandering a world with fewer people in it. This story takes place over one night - the graduation night of a teenager. Lucy, a quirky likeable artistic teenager, is fascinated with Shadow, a local graffiti artist who she has never met. Shadow draws paintings throughout the city which often contain words from his sidekick Poet. Lucy has developed a crush on Shadow as she imagines him. She and her friend Jazz are staying out all night to celebrate graduation and end up spending the night traveling about with another girl and three boys. Lucy and Jazz don't realize that two of the boys are, in fact, Shadow and Poet. Lucy and Ed, Shadow's real identity, spend the night searching for Shadow as Ed takes Lucy on a visit to some of his favorite graffiti art. The author describes the night time and Lucy and Ed in a way that allows the reader to truly feel part of their adventure. The descriptions of art, both graffiti and other works of art, are vivid. I found myself looking up all the works of art discussed in the book. The relationships between the teens and the adults in their worlds are also developed in a way that shows the adults as not perfect but helpful in the lessons in life. Although I liked the ending, I was sad the night was over.

This book was amazing I love some of the things that were said in here, definitely worth the read.

Graffiti Moon ist so ein Buch, das man am liebsten in einem Rutsch durchlesen möchte. Das habe ich auch fast getan, wenn man die paar Stunden Schlaf zwischendurch mal außer Acht lässt. Ich muss sagen, dass ich richtig angetan bin von diesem Buch, seiner Geschichte und vor allem seinen Charakteren.Lucy hat ihren Abschluss in der Tasche und möchte dies mit ihrer Freundin Jazz und ihrer Noch-nicht-ganz-Freundin Daisy feiern. Seit langem schon möchte sie den Graffiti-Künstler Shadow treffen, da sie der Meinung ist, mit ihm würde sie sich hervorragend verstehen, da beide Künstler sind. Als sie am selben Abend die Jungs Ed, Leo und Dylan treffen, behaupten diese, Shadow und dessen Komplize Poet zu kennen. Sie boten den Mädchen an mit ihnen gemeinsam die beiden zu suchen und Lucy ist natürlich gleich Feuer und Flamme. So begleiten wir die Jugendlichen durch eine Nacht, in der so viel passieren kann.Ich liebe, liebe, liebe diese Charaktere. Und das gilt nicht nur für die drei Hauptprotagonisten Lucy, Ed und Leo, sondern auch für die ganzen Nebencharaktere. Alle sind so wahnsinnig vielschichtig und unterschiedlich, was schon mal sehr viel am Buch ausmacht.Lucy ist komplett anders, als ich beim Lesen der Buchbeschreibung erwartet hätte. Sie ist keineswegs hilflos, schüchtern oder gar langweilig, sondern weiß sich zu helfen, ist intelligent und richtig interessant. Ihre Situation zu Hause ist nicht gerade normal, da ihr Vater momentan im Gartenhaus wohnt und beide Eltern beteuern, sich immer noch zu lieben. Auch wenn die beiden keine große Rolle spielen, waren sie mir richtig sympathisch. Beide sind Künstler, ihr Vater Comedian und ihre Mutter Autorin, und obwohl sie nicht viel Geld verdienen, versuchen sie Lucy glücklich zu machen und bezahlen ihr beispielsweise einen Kurs zum Glasblasen."If you treat glass right, it doesn’t crack. If you know the properties, you can make things; the color of dusk and night and love. But you can’t control people like that and I really, really wish you could. I want the world to be glass."Auch Ed schwimmt nicht gerade in Geld. Seine Mutter wurde mit ihm schwanger, da war sie gerademal sechzehn und sein Vater hat sich daraufhin gleich mal aus dem Staub gemacht. So versuchen sie mehr oder weniger über die Runden zu kommen. Er selbst hat die Schule nach der 10. Klasse abgebrochen und arbeitete bis zu dessen Tod in Berts Farbgeschäft. Bert wurde im Laufe der Zeit eine Art Vaterperson für Ed und man erfährt ziemlich viel durch kleine Rückblicke über ihn. Im Laufe des Buches merkt man auch, wie er mit diesem Verlust kämpft und auch wenn er vieles abstreitet, wie dass es ihm egal ist, ob sein Vater abgehauen ist oder nicht, merkt man, dass doch mehr dahinter steckt.Als dritte Person hätten wir noch Leo, der seit Jahren schon bei seiner Oma wohnt, da die Situation bei ihm zu Hause nicht sehr toll ist. Er und Ed kennen sich schon seit Ewigkeiten und Eds Mutter sieht Leo auch als zweiten Sohn an. Leo hat so seine Probleme, sich einem Mädchen zu öffnen, da er mit seiner letzten Freundin unschöne Erfahrungen gemacht hat. Doch im Laufe des Buches springt auch er über seinen Schatten.Doch wie gesagt dreht es sich hier nicht nur um Lucy, Ed und Leo. Erwähnenswert finde ich vor allem Lucys Freundin Jazz, die von sich selbst behauptet physic zu sein. Heißt, sie kann in die Zukunft sehen. Ich habe sie jedenfalls auf Anhieb gemocht und könnte mir auch vorstellen, mit ihr befreundet zu sein, denn mit ihr wird es mit Sicherheit nie langweilig. Oder das etwas komische Pärchen Daisy und Dylan, bei denen ich mich eigentlich echt wundere, warum die überhaupt noch zusammen sind. Auch Bert ist mir durch diese kurzen Rückblicke gewissermaßen etwas ans Herz gewachsen. Neben den guten gibt es allerdings auch einige, die nicht gerade freundlich sind und vor denen sich unsere Helden hier besser in Acht nehmen sollten. Denn diese Nacht birgt auch ein paar Gefahren in sich.Erzählt wird das Buch aus drei Perspektiven. Daisy, Ed und Poet. Poet’s Kapitel sind immer kurz gehalten und total ungewöhnlich, da sie nur aus Gedichten bestehen. Daisy’s und Ed’s Kapitel überlappen sich hier und da, was ich richtig gut fand und keinesfalls störend, da die letzte Unterhaltung nochmal kurz wiederholt wurde. Ich fand es richtig interessant, das Erlebte noch aus der Sicht des anderen zu lesen und wie sich ihre Gedanken voneinander unterscheiden.Graffiti Moon ist voll von Kunst und ich war so begeistert davon. Die Graffitis wurden vor meinem inneren Augen lebendig, ich konnte sie richtig vor mir sehen und spüren, welche Gefühle dahinter stecken. Neben den Graffitis sind da natürlich noch die tollen Gedichte oder die Idee der Erinnerungsflaschen. Das Buch hat mich richtig dazu angeregt, mich mit Kunst zu beschäftigen. Besonders das Glasblasen würde ich gerne selbst mal ausprobieren. Doch auch der Schreibstil der Autorin ist fast so etwas wie Kunst. Ich liebe Crowleys Art die Dinge zu beschreiben und zum Teil kamen da richtig tiefgründige Passagen zum Vorschein."I like that about art, that what you see is sometimes more about who you are than what’s on the wall. I look at this painting and think about how everyone has some secret inside, something sleeping like that yellow bird."Man durchlebt mit den Charakteren hier lediglich eine Nacht, eine Nacht in der so viele Dinge passieren. Man geht mit ihnen durch lustige, nachdenkliche, traurige und hoffnungsvolle Momente. Am liebsten würde ich auch sofort solche Menschen treffen, mit ihnen eine Nacht durchmachen, die alles verändern kann und mich einfach nur jung und frei fühlen. Auch die Romanze hier ist perfekt, keinesfalls übertrieben und auch das Gefühl, man hätte so etwas schon viel zu oft gelesen, hatte ich nicht."Mum says when wanting collides with getting, that’s the moment of truth. I want to collide."Fazit:Ich könnte jetzt noch ewig so weiter schreiben und meine Rezension ist jetzt wahrscheinlich komplett unkoordiniert, da ich einfach nur drauf los geschrieben habe. Aber ich denke, ihr habt begriffen, dass dieses Buch mich wirklich umgehauen hat und ich bin so froh, es entdeckt zu haben. Die Charaktere sind ein fettes Plus und die Chemie zwischen allen stimmt einfach nur. Die Story ist eigentlich ziemlich simpel, doch gleichzeitig auch wunderbar ausgearbeitet. Obwohl auch das große Geheimnis schon nach den ersten Kapiteln gelüftet wird, wird es nie langweilig und man liest einfach weiter, bis das Buch leider schon zu Ende ist. Ich werde auf jeden Fall nach weiteren Büchern von Cath Crowley Ausschau halten.

It's an explosion of words and light and sounds and colours and images and everything else you could possibly ask for. And it all happens in one night, just one night to find Shadow, and possibly find so much more along the way. Every single character in this book is written so freaking perfectly. Lucy is brilliantly awesome, and her voice was so different from any character I've read before. She's got all these ideas and views and thoughts, and you get to hear them all as the night goes on. And then there's Ed, who's sweet and funny and has so much going for him, but he doesn't know it. And somehow, as well as writing these beautiful main characters, Cath Crowley also made sure that every other character, no matter how insignificant, had just as much substance - Poet and Jazz and Daisy and Dylan and Al and Bert and Lucy's parents and Ed's mom. Even though they may not be the main focus, they are written just as magnificently as Ed and Lucy, and they seamlessly weave everything together.The writing in this book is so lyrical and gorgeous and beautiful, and it's like Cath Crowley took every single emotion and wove them all in to each sentence. Every single word is brilliant, like Cath Crowley just knew what needed to be said. And the plot... I love, love, love how everything happens at night, with the thick darkness all around you making you feel like you're right there with Ed and Lucy, and you just want to tell both of them what the other is thinking, and what's about to happen because the cool thing is you sort of know what's coming up, but Ed and Lucy don't and then suddenly it happens and you're either laughing hysterically or sobbing, right along with them.I honestly don't know what else I can say about this book... Once you start reading it you just know, from the very first line, that you won't be able to stop until you finish this book. Cath Crowley's words are like rain after you've been living in a drought, and I just wanted to drink it all up.

Leicht zu lesen, keine Schwarzewißmalerei, schöne Geschichte vom Erwachsenwerden, vom Suchen und Finden des richtiges Weges, des richtigen Menschen.Nicht wahnsinnigüberraschend in der Handlung, aber schöner Blick auf die Jugendlichen.Habe die Lekktüre sehr genossen.PS: Bin 40 und immer auf der Suche nach möglichen Lektüren für den Englischunterricht: Tauglich, würde ich sagen.
