I wish I bought this book before going to Israel this year. All the tour books, guides and internet searches did not give me as much insight as this book.Christian, Jew or Muslim, this book will move you to learn more about the rich history of the Holy Land.Every region, city, town and waterway is described in detail, then accompanied by it's reference in the Bible plus the current state of the site--ruins or tourist spots.Maps of the region during each period in history give you a better understanding of the changes over thousands of years.Information is given in a concise manner--never boring--with ample sidebars to pique your interest to reading more from the Bible or history books.

This book is full of pictures and text so the reader can get an idea of what the area looks like today. Also included are many Scripture references of the location for cross reference. Excellent tool to read and study prior to any visit to the Holy Land, or just for education. Amazon had lots to choose from, and this was an excellent choice for my current needs. Fast delivery and good pricing, as usual.

Someone loaned a copy of this book to me before by trip to the Holy Lands. She has been a few years earlier and found it helpful. I read about all the places I would visit, enjoyed the pictures and insightful information, and took the book with me. Since I had borrowed the book, I bought my own copy when I returned. I like the fact that the book said it was for travelers or armchair travelers. Even if you don't get the amazing chance to travel to Israel, this book is the next best thing.

I love this book! My husband and I recently took a tour in Israel and bought this book before we went. It is extremely informative. Even after our trip I like to have this book as a reference when reading my Bible. I can look up locations mentioned in my Bible and know where they are plus some history of the site. Great purchase!!!

This was very easy to follow. It had a lot of good information in it. It was very helpful. I read it before I visited the Holy Land and now can reference back to it when reading the Bible. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting insight or studying the Bible.

This book came in time for me to read several chapters before my trip. I took it with me and checked off everything I had seen. It was a welcomed help for my tour and the explanations were great. I was so glad it came on time for me to take it with me.
