Important and valuable, but flawed.
My wife has a rare form dementia called Primary Progressive Aphasia, which in addition to taking away her ability to communicate, has also taken her ability to move independently. While this transport chair has helped significantly in getting her to the bathroom/kitchen table/bedroom/etc, there is room for improvement. For example, it is hard to push without handles. An option for detachable handles would be helpful. The footrests always flop down, so I have to keep them off indoors as they do not fit through the doorframes in the house, and scrape against objects in small spaces. As a result, I have to pull the chair backwards instead of pushing so I don’t hurt my wife’s feet. The armrests work well so far, but they seem flimsy and could potentially break with frequent movement over time.In addition, when the chair came with completely stripped screws in the backrest on one side, and on the other side those screws come loose and I occasionally need to tighten them up with a screwdriver. In conclusion, yes, this has helped us, but there needs to be more quality control with the screws for the sake of safety, and it would be perfect if there were detachable handlebars to help the caregiver maneuver their loved one more easily.
