Good low cost well balanced solenoid
UPDATE: This solenoid is a good balance of stroke and coil current, however the initial 10% of pull-in has difficulty if there is resistance, so if you need the entire 10mm of stroke it may not work well. Allowing some slack in the initial movement will help the plunger pull in.

Too small for the job I have.
It is too small for the job I have, so I have ordered a larger one, which will arrive tomorrow. I did not know if the little one would do the job or not.

The specs are misleading
The DC resistance is about 10 ohms so at 12V it draws 1.2 amps.At that voltage and current the force is less than two newtons.There is no way that it will ever have a force of 5N.It got too hot to touch.It is a mechanically nice little unit but it won't produce anywhere near 5N at 300ma.It may work OK for applications requiring about one newton.Vern
