Q: Has anyone tried on a bulldog?

No, I have not used on a bulldog. My dogs have long facial hair that I do keep short to keep cleaner. Even after I have given baths and what I think is a very good shampoo around their eyes (I also use a soft toothbrush) the comb can still get more 'gunk' out. It's easy, my dogs don't have issues with me using this comb. I really like it.

Hello, thank you for your inquiry. Every dog, cat and pet will be different. Personally, my dog has never had a problem using these. Make sure when you are removing the dirt build up that you gently comb away from their eyes.

Q: Can I use doggy hair brush instead?

It’s not really going to work the same, but you can use any kind of flea comb because that’s essentially what this is. Just make sure the area is moist or it could injure the dog, kind of like ripping a scab off, if it’s completely dry.
