I picked up the Nikon ProStaff binoculars for an upcoming hiking and bird-watching trip, and I couldn’t be more satisfied. These binoculars have far exceeded my expectations in terms of both performance and durability. Even in low light, the ProStaff performs remarkably well. I’ve used these at dawn and dusk, and the brightness is impressive. Very nice set of binoculars. Easy to use, very clear view, crystal clear. They aren't "compact" but they are not bulky in any sense of the word. This is the second set of Nikon binoculars I have purchased. The price was very reasonable.

Beautiful binoculars, a pleasure to use daily. We use them to bird watch, as well as night sky star gazing. A real treat. 8x42 is the sweet spot for general use binoculars. 8x is enough power to see detail but still be able to hand-hold. 42 is a big enough lens to gather plenty of light for day or night viewing. 10x is too hard to hold by hand (realistically the upper limit for hand-held), as the image jumps around too much. 50mm diameter lens is also the upper end of hand-held, as it is heavier and bulkier to hold without a tripod. The P3 line is a perfect balance of good lens coating at a value price. The higher end models have better lens coating technology, but for the extra $$$ you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference. The only other option to consider paying more money for is waterproofing. Only get waterproof if you really need it (using on a boat is the obvious situation). But for birdwatching outdoors on a clear day, the P3 is a great model. We literally use them every single day. Our living room looks out on a big field with a lot of nature activity. We keep these binoculars on the window sill, ready at a moments notice to watch the show. Nikon is known for optical quality, and these don't disappoint. Easy to focus, stays in focus, well made, sturdy. Just quality all around.

Love these, after our previous ones broke, we bought these. These are not huge and easily pack away for a day hike. Great for bird or animal watching. Comes with case and covers!

I’m so pleased with these binoculars. I purchased 8x42 pro staff . I live on acreage across from a 65000 acre wildlife management area . I can watch the birds and squirrels at my bird feeder perfectly. It’s easy to move without the shakiness in the view. The 8x magnification is perfect for bird watchers.Also the 42 allows plenty of light to view a wide area in the wildlife management area. First I unpacked everything. Then turned the telescoping lens to fully open them . It’s the side that your eyes are looking through gently .I adjusted until I had a clear view using the adjustment ring while looking through eyepiece. Next on Right eyepiece side turn where you see the plus minus signs. Mine was right lense side it has a ribbed area to make adjustments easily until you are comfortable and happy with the view. I was doing all the research I could to try to decide on a pair of binoculars. I am so happy I made the right choice with the Nikon pro staff 8 x 42. You’ll love these . I chose the 8 x 42 over the 10 x 42 because I experience less shakiness when I’m viewing I’m a little bit older and these are much easier for me to use and have a clear picture.. I bird watch multiple times a day from my porch and I’m so happy I bought these. I also look out on the wildlife management area to see a variety of wild birds in Florida.. we will be buying the 10 x 42 next that’s just giving us 10 times magnification I have to buy another pair because my husband keeps confiscating these that’s how much we love them. We take turns using them so I have to get another pair now you’ll be so happy with this purchase. I can’t say enough good things about these binoculars. These work in my opinion, exceptionally well for the price very satisfied customer.
