I've purchased two other starter kits from other sellers and this one, for the same price, is by far the best. It produced perfect kombucha and a brand new thick scoby grew on top-- I am very happy.

I received this product, made my tea and put in the starter. the scoby was a very pale film in the liquid - not the hearty disc I am used to. After 7 days there was no fermentation. After 9 days, still no fermentation . I have made kombucha for several years. never had this happen before.

To small very small nothing like in the picture didn’t look healthy I threw it away I didn’t use it

I bought this Scoby & a different brand, to try both. This Scoby looks small, at only about 3" diameter. It is thicker than the other brand I purchased, though. I'll update this review if there any issues with my brew. This Scoby quickly showed action in the first 48 hours of brewing; it thickened some, that fast.*as an update... the scoby has not created a baby scoby and the pH is still too high, after about two weeks. perhaps it was affected by shipping.*** more than thirty days have elapsed, and the scoby never produced a second scoby.**** as an update, after re-attempting to brew the scoby, using kombucha from a different scoby batch, I was able to get it to begin replicating. It was about 6 months before it began growing new Scobies, and though I did have to use my own kombucha to jumpstart it, once it began creating more, it’s a fine product.

If you are in need of a scoby to start making your own kombucha I would urge you to buy from this seller. It came with a cup of kombucha with the scoby which is also needed to make a batch at home. I am enjoying the process of doing it myself. Yum!

I made a batch according to instructions just to discover after 7 days I discovered that mold is forming on top of my new scoby. likely because the starter tea is in fact not strong enough for the recipe. I have been making kombucha for about 2 years and never had this issue before. That’s false advertisement and I’m really disappointed by this product. A refund or replacement would be appreciated!

Great scoby. I had a little bit of an issue, and the customer service support was awesome! My scoby continues to grow and my kombucha is awesome. :)

When I received this scoby, I put it to work right away, brewing my first batch of kombucha. For over a month, I was having problems getting a batch that was fermented all of the way, even if I let it go up to 10 days. It just seemed really very sluggish. Once, I even kept 4 cups of kombucha from the last batch to use as a starter.I ended up ordering some water kefir grains and a scoby from poseymom. Man, that scoby took off. The first batch was Dee-licious! It produced another scoby that first time, which covered the top of the kombucha in the jar. When I did the second fermentation, new baby scobys actually started in those bottles lol.I'm now up to making 2-3 gallons of kombucha weekly. Unfortunately, this scoby isn't part of that production. I ended up just tossing it. I'd definitely look elsewhere for your scoby. Heck, I'll have more extras soon lol.
