Hair Styling Texture Paste, 2.11 Ounce

I'm a big fan of the Joe Grooming Compound and wanted to see how this Texture Paste compared.As you can see from the photos, the paste is labeled to have a slightly stronger hold and lower shine than the grooming compound. I will attest that this is pretty much accurate, but the difference is marginal.I find that the paste is not as creamy and pliable as the grooming compound, and has a harder and thicker consistency. You really have to work it through your hands and fingers to get it into a texture. Otherwise, you just have chunks of it in your hands.It also has more of a floral scent than the grooming compound. It's not prominent, but not subtle either. I actually kind of like it. The product washes away easily with warm water and soap/shampoo, which is a big plus for me.Overall, this paste gets five stars from me. If I had to choose one over the other, I'd go with the grooming compound because I find it more workable and versatile. But what I found to really work for me is mixing dabs of both the paste and compound. It's the perfect balance of a strong hold, yet pliable, gummy texture that I use to matte-spike my hair, without too much shine. Now only if they weren't $20 a pop!

Good product, my hair looks great when I wear it, but the hold, while strong enough, isn't quite as strong as other products I've used. I end up having to use a bit more of this stuff than my last brand.

I was recommended this product through my wife’s best friend who is a hairdresser and it works perfectly. I put it on after the shower and it leaves a very natural look to my hair. It’s great because a little goes a long way and it isn’t greasy or sticky.

I absolutely love this stuff. Growing up I have always coarse hair that many people think is very dry "Do you use Conditioner?". And I have used many products to keep my hair in check as with the coarseness it likes to go wherever it pleases. I'm also not a huge fan of having shinny hair like I just got out of the shower. This stuff holds my hair with super low shine and also smells great. The best way to use this product is to shower, dry your hair completely then rub a dime sized portion in your hands and rub in for about 10 seconds.It comes in a small container and is usually enough (using once every two days) to last me at least 3- 4 months. In my opinion it is the best hair product I've ever used.

Smells like pina colada mix. Doesn't hold well and has the feel of much cheaper hair products.

Coming from someone with a full head of semi thick hair who wants a matte finish with a high hold, this stuff did not live up to the reviews that are on here.After trying to use it with mousse, without mousse, with hairspray, with hairspray and mousse, using it before blow drying, after blow drying, it just doesn't work like it is advertised. It leaves an extremely greasy feeling to my hair and it DOES NOT hold NEARLY as well as anything else I have tried. It leaves a shine as well when it is said to leave a matte finish.I am now using a wax that has a much more matte finish with a MUCH better hold. I am waiting on some Hanz de Fuko Quicksand which from what I am reading, is great for what I need (matte finish, high hold).

I've used many, many different male hair products through my life. Every time I find one I like, they seem to discontinue it.This product is ok and would probably be better if you have super thick hair. I give it only 3 stars because it leaves your hair a bit greasier and doesn't hold well.I'd put this just a little ahead of Crew Fiber.

Great product.Hard to find paste, gel, pomade, etc that doesn't make your hair all un-natural looking and stiff.This is a great one to use and a little bit goes a long way even with my thick Asian hair!
