A musou game with a twist for the better in the gameplay
I can't really make a comparison of this game to other games of the style because I haven't played any of them for some years (be it Sengoku Basara or Dynasty Warriors, don't remember any other). The reason for me to not play musou games anymore is that I got bored of them. After a few iterations in either franchise I felt like they were always the same thing with slightly different characters. This one, however, introduced me to a more strategic approach to the combat and added some other little things to keep me interested along the way (namely the territories for winning conditions, increasing combos according to character level to keep combat fresh and some other RPG mechanics). As for the story... what can I say? I don't want to spoil anything so I'll say this much: I think the mechanics match well the story and vice-versa and if you liked Fate/EXTRA it is likely that you will like this one too (I don't remember how the previous game connects to this one story-wise but as long I could get more time with Tamamo I didn't really care). That's it for the game itself, from now on it will be about the Noble Phantasm Edition. It includes a cloth with an image of Tamamo and Nero fighting, a hardcover art book and a set of cards made of a transparent-y plastic (more on that later) with the images imprinted in them, one for each servant. The cloth is a good size, has a nice feel to the touch and is way more durable than paper just by being a cloth, just got to keep it clean. The book is not only an art book but also a compendium with descriptions and stats of all the characters and their abilities, making it all I wanted and more than I expected. The cards... The cards sound bad, huh? But they were a big surprise for me and I actually like them a lot. For starters, I have to point out that the plastic is way sturdier and durable than any "real" (tcg-type paper) cards (I guess they went for the most durability so they retain their print quality with all the parts of the NP Edition), and I belive that is the best use I've seen for transparent plastic on a card. The Servant picture itself is opaque, while the background of the card is only slightly transparent, so when looking from behind, it looks like a 'mystery character' silhouette kind of thing, while from the front it is your regular cute/badass Servant. From there I proceeded to see how transparent it is, so I put a light behind it, only to be pleasantly surprised by a nice starry sky background on the card, making it all the better. Overall, the Noble Phantasm Edition is well worth its price in my opinion, but if anything that I wrote sounds like it could be bad for you, investigate further and then decide if you want it.

Great game
It's definitely an interesting game. It's not meant for everyone. This game is what my friends and I call a "hack n slash". To put very basically, almost to the point of insult, you button-mash to your objectives and the story progresses. Before I get angry comments; allow me to say I had, and am still having, a really fun time playing. They've made it so that the button combos will make the desired attack as long as you input the correct buttons. The different characters have noticeable stat differences. As you level up your character, new move combinations, upgrades and even costumes become available. Lastly, the greatest part, in my opinion, is as you play the game, the more there is to do.Overall, if you enjoy these "hack n slash" games and you have a moderate understanding of Japanese games and/or the anime, you will have a very good chance of enjoying this game.

Great story, wonky camera.
TL;DR: A bit slow to start and may seem a bit of a drag during the second route as it's the same narrative but from the other side's PoV, the story really picks up in the second half game. You will fight the camera a lot and need to refer to the map in the corner of your screen to see where you're going and find the portals to the other rooms in the area as actually following the arrows can be confusing in some stages. TIP: If you don't like the side objectives that boost the bonds of the other servants (the only way to do so for them as well), exit out of the menu and back to My Room, then reselect the chapter and view them again. It'll change every time.Despite fighting the camera more often than not (seems to be a trend with Warriors-style games anyway), I'd still give the game 5 stars for story and characters. If you can get past the (lack of) camera control -- more on that below -- and the repetitiveness as you play through three routes (i.e. perspectives) of the same story essentially then it's great. You have to be more invested in the characters, the story too but especially the characters I'd say, to get into it. Otherwise the Warriors-style gameplay and trying to breeze through the story part will burn you out quickly. If you don't get the outcome you want from a bond moment in My Room you can save scum and retry. The story does make references to Fate/Extra, but you don't have to have played it for it to make sense since it just talks about who won the war in that game. And you do have some camera control with the R stick, but it's so free moving that it's a hassle to use. Also, no real lock-on system so even though you can press R on major enemies (e.g. boss servants) you can't really lock on and stay locked onto them -- you need to keep adjusting the camera. L will become your best friend for readjusting the camera back to being in front of you and R for dashing to move between sectors faster (every second counts) when not using it to try and get a feeble lock on to a boss servant. You'll adjust to this, but it will always be a hassle to deal with.Allies are weak and won't last too long, especially in rooms jam packed with enemies, even weak ones. Getting to them is also a nuisance and you're better off trying to leave them alone and hope for the best if you aren't nearby or if your objective isn't nearby and timed (and you don't see a timer, but after a while your progress will be undone in some chapters if you take too long to complete an objective). If they all die you get a Mission Failed. Leveling them up in their Side Stories won't help them out in the main stories, but they are fun to go through anyway. They're also much shorter at three chapters long per character, but still have interesting stories overall.

Jogo curto
