Eva Ibbotson's books are a joy for both adults and children. The books for younger readers are full of imagination and humour. Those for older readers are so descriiptive you feel you are in the streets with her. It is a great pity to know that there will be no more

Seltsam.... aber gut.
Die Geschichten haben eine ausgesprochen starke Moral. Gut und böse ist sehr klar getrennt. Aber die bösen sind wirklich sehr unverschämt, egoistisch und eigentlich recht widerlich. In diesem Sinne sind sie vielleicht eher moderne Märchen, denn auch traditionelle Märchen können recht brutal sein. Aber es ist bestimmt nichts für zu zart besaitete Kinder.
