Dolls' House Shops, Cafes & Restaurants

This book is filled with ideas and pictures showing other people’s finished products. The value of this book is inspiration only. The content is pretty dismal as far as text is concerned. Much of the text with the picture is only telling you what you see in the picture. Occasionally, there is some minor input as to why certain pieces were placed but that too is minimal at best. There are some nice pictures to look at but just as many are too small or too blurry to really see the important details. Many of the picture are dated with poor resolution. There is a small amount of instruction but that is limited and suffers from a lack of corresponding pictures of the actual creation of the item. I would not recommend this book to anyone unless you are seeking inspiration from other people’s work.

This book, Dolls' House Shops, Cafes & Restaurants, came in good time. I construct room boxes as well as make furniture for my two doll houses and this book is truly an inspiration. It has great colorful pictures and many ideas if you enjoy doing the same. Specializes in ideas for little businesses for your dolls.

Dolls' House Shops, Cafes & Restaurants This book just makes me want to make stuff and isn't that what it's all about? Aside from the fact that you'll never again put a scrap of cardstock or the top of a pill bottle in the recycling bin again, there's not one project in this book that doesn't make the mini enthusiast want to get sticky fingers. Best of all, unlike a lot of other books, DH Shops doesn't insist on polished perfection. A lot of the vignettes contain objects that show the hand of the maker and it's obvious that Nisbett just really likes to MAKE things. She has some high-end minis in her rooms but she also has lots of box top endtables, framed postcards and walls covered with gift wrap that are within everyone's means. I guarantee you'll find tons of great ideas and lots of inspiration to get you taking a second look at that empty antacid bottle. Highly recommended.

This book is wonderful! It has given me so many ideas that I cannot wait to implement.It has so many things that you don't realize. I never thought about a boutique. And this book has many different ideas.It simply brings my imagination to life!

I have a general store and I purchased another author buy this publisher for my 1920's to 1930's dollhouse. What a beautiful book with tons of ideas

This is a great book to have. It has lots of beautiful miniatures in quality pictures. Plus, there are tips and suggestions for creating your own miniatures. I love this book. Glad I purchased it.

This book is very disappointing. Yes,it has lots of photos. But the 'idea's section seems to consist of the ssame cardboard box as a counter with different items laid out. There are not useful projects whatsoever. We don't really need to read what a toy shop, hat shop etc, actually is. The first part of the book has some nice examples but if you want real inspo and ideas this is a no no. Jean nesbetts other books far outweigh this one

Wasn't what I expected from this book

This book was quite well used and quite disappointing. You really need to be a master carpenter to produce any of these bits of furniture. I wanted much easier modelling.
