Monopoly Gamer Collector's Edition

First things first. I and my family love this variation of Monopoly Gamer and have already played it more times than the classic Monopoly that we have had for several years! I purchased the Collector's edition and all of the optional 8 characters.What I love!1. Design of the board, characters, plastic coins and the small nuances that went into designing the collector's edition. The characters are also solid and my kid loves them.2. The game play is superb. Once you understand the rules, it is easy to keep playing and there are several different variations that keep us engrossed in the game.3. Unlike other Monopoly variations, this Monopoly Gamer introduces a whole new game play and is more of a Mario game than Monopoly, however it retains the core concepts of Monopoly, so you get the best of both worlds.4. Most importantly, unlike the classic Monopoly, the Monopoly Gamer version has a definite end and it usually takes about 45 mins to an hour to play this game, which is ideal. This means that kids around 7+ should be able to play this with friends independently, with little adult guidance initially.Cons:1. Well, the 8 optional characters are expensive. if you buy them individually, its going to be a pain, and if you buy all of them together from Amazon, the optional characters will cost you more than 42$, in addition to the core game. (but they are great and if you buy a collector's edition, I'd recommend buying them. Each come with their unique playing card with the star power and Power Up description2. Coin storage is going to be a problem and there are very few 3rd party coin options that can be used with the board. You can get 3D printed coins, if needed, but they are around 12$ extra.But the Cons are not even worth mentioning. The game is so awesome that I'd buy it again without a second thought.

I actually purchased this a little while ago, but never got around to giving a review until now. I absolutely LOVE this game!!! I think this is far superior game play than that of the traditional Monopoly and the fact that it is Super Mario themed makes it then times better indeed! The collectors edition is absolutely worth the investment whether you intend to just admire it from afar or bust that bad boy open and play!!! The quality of the collectors edition compared to the standard Monopoly Gamer that you can grab from a shelf is not even on a comparable level! The game pieces themselves don't seem too different either way, although they are cute and I really appreciate the quality of the figures, the real deal is all the extra business! The coins being made from a good quality plastic, the board is a much greater grade of board with embossed letters, the box itself is incredible! There is an artistic touch on every inch of the box! Even the booklet is superb by comparison! The big selling point to me was getting the Bowser playable character piece, I really never anticipated the level of awesomeness that came along with him! I actually had already purchased and played the standard version of this game, so I do know whereof I speak! Another great point is that with the collectors edition, you get the stickers for each character included, and the fabric like booklet has a couple of pages dedicated to being a sticker book, as well as full color gorgeous pictures and information on the game and the characters! Also the insert for the box has molded spaces for all of the power pack characters that can be purchased separately!!! I love anything that gives me organizing as a bonus! I am still so impressed by the amazing quality difference even after this long, every time I take this game off the shelf I have to admire all the great details! I only wish they would release a collectors edition of Monopoly Gamer Mario Kart because I would totally but another copy of it for the same reasons!

My 5-year-old picked out the original basic set at a store because he loves Mario. I bought it mostly to humor him and thought it would be gimmicky. Little did I know how fun this game would be!Such a fun game for all of us. Even my 2-year-old enjoys it, although he mostly plays with the character pieces. Very well designed with abilities for each player and power ups which help even out the gameplay. Felt more like a Mario video game than Monopoly. Games last about an hour, with multiple play options for 2 to 4 players. Each player can also use multiple characters in each game, if so desired.We love it so much we bought this collector's edition for the exclusive Bowser after collecting the other figures. I was happily surprised with the higher quality of the board and pieces. Even the instructions manual is high quality, and the coin pieces are plastic, instead of cardboard. The character pieces are the same as in the other set though, except for Bowser which can't be bought separately.If you're a fan of Mario, Monopoly, and fun - get this game!

This version of the game plays almost completely differently than the standard Monopoly game.There are cool characters with exciting abilities and a fun new competitive flow to the game.Monopoly Gamer Collector's edition is very easy to learn, fast paced, and fun!The game is listed as being playable for up to 4 players but we've easily had 5 without killing the flow of the game.The characters and their unique abilities are very cool and bring a whole new challenge to the game.It's just a shame that the expansion characters (for the most part) are incredibly expensive these days.Everything is of quality make and stows easily.I 100% would recommend this version of the game to anyone!
